Title: Twinfire wiring and Tuning
Post by: AssHammer on July 24, 2006, 09:10:15 AM
:?I need help . car is a 95 civic. I installed the Twinfire unit with 300m coils, eliminated the distributor, installed a hall sensor crank/cam.
here is a diagrms of how I have it wired. I get no spark but the hall sensor is working. Can someone walk me through the settings that need to be made in the EMS to make this setup work?

Anyone? Looks like the inputs for the crank/cam sensor may be incorrect... I'm getting 7.5 volts on the green wire when it should be 0v .. same for the yellow wire. Should cam and crank inputs go to cam and crank negative on the EMS as opposed to positive?
Some help please!

Turn on coils 1,2,3,5 4 is not available.(make sure your wiring is correct)
setup coil dwell for CDI
Set spark teeth to 24
Set fuel teeth to 24
Use the default Tooth Control table values which should be 5 up to 23 then 3 at 24 and 0 at 25.
Set ign phasing
1=0
2=6
3=12
5=18
This should get your going... Enjoy.. :-D

sweet. as far as the spark and fuel teeth though should they be 12 and not 24 since there are 12 rank teeth and 1 cam tooth? Thanks so much for your help.. I've posted on 5 different forums with no response. This is the last thing I need to do to finish my car.

no
AEM uses an engine cycle as the teeth count.
1 engine cycle = 2 revolutions

That makes perfect sense! Thank you!

Well, I set everything the way you guys suggested and nothing. The only thing that changed was that even though it goes sync stat on I have no rpm action :cry:
Setting the fuel and spark teeth back to 12 got my rpm back.
Maybe I didn't give you enough info. The cam/ crank sensor is just as it's pictured in the diagram I made at the top of the thread. It's just a wheel with 13 magnets in it. 12 magnets evenly spaced with the poles in one direction for crank and 1 magnet with the pole placed opposite for cam (positioned between the crank magnets at TDC). The wheel is mounted to the cam and as the cam gear turns with the wheel attached it passes the sensor which sends 12vdc to the cam and crank inputs.

wait wait
you have 13 teeth on the crank and put 12 for fuel/spark teeth?
You need to input the TOTAL number of teeth meaning 13 NOT 12. Just like a 60-2 wheel should be 60 NOT 58 (yes yes the 60-2 does not work for someodd ball reason)

the "13th" tooth (cam) is not recognized by the sensor as a crank tooth..it's pole is reversed which is why I'm using 12 for the tooth count and getting sync stat on and correct cranking rpm. I don't know why there is no spark though
