Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership (MAVPP) to host breakfast addressing the growing concern over youth and gang-related violence
Mother’s of victims of violence will be honored and encouraged to get involved in the fight to end violence.
Innovative approaches to violence prevention will be shared along with information on how to implement

ATLANTA – Youth and gang violence has become a growing concern in the city of Atlanta and surrounding counties. In order to speak to these concerns and further address the problem, the Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership (MAVPP) will host a breakfast at the Adamsville Recreation Center on Friday, December 7, 2007, from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The breakfast will link communities and community leaders of Cobb, Clayton, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton and Gwinnett counties.

The topic of discussion will focus on science-based and innovative approaches to violence prevention. Information will be shared on resources for initiating violence prevention services at various age levels. The mother’s of victims of violence will be honored and encouraged to get involved in a regional campaign to prevent violence, as well as school officials, faith leaders and concerned citizens.

Participants in the event will leave with violence prevention strategies that are scientifically tested, down-to-earth, practical and tangible. Take home tools will offer information on funding resources as well as programmatic opportunities that can be implemented immediately in schools, faith organizations, juvenile facilities, etc. to counteract violence before it starts. Entertainment will be provided by talented community youth who will sing a cappella, deliver spoken word and other types of performing arts.
