Title: Supply Chain Manager
Reports to: Managing Director

With increasing capabilities within extrusion and plastic injection moulding, Verplas’ wide range of UK ventilation products has continued to lead the way within the domestic ventilation market for nearly 30 years. Verplas is part of the Indutrade worldwide group that specialises in high-tech products and solutions with over 200 companies within its portfolio.
Following a strategic review of the end to end operation within the business an opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Manager to develop a cohesive model of operation that will allow Verplas to take advantage of efficiencies across purchasing, warehouse and logistics.
Role
The purpose of the role is to manage the supply chain function to ensure maximum efficiency in spend, stock holding and logistics in a drive to world class manufacturing capability. You will act as a leader and manager of purchasing, warehouse, dispatch and transport functions whilst operating in a hand’s on and functional capacity across these teams. You will also be tasked with identifying and supporting all continuous improvement workto improve production throughputreduce cost or improve cash.
Responsibilities
  • To provide hands on maintenance support, both in planned maintenance and reactive maintenance activities, for all machines tools and equipment as part of the maintenance team but with overall leadership responsibility
  • To provide first line management, coaching, mentoring to the team. To liaise with Senior Managers on daily issues
  • To ensure tools are available for production and maintained in line with business needs and forecast
  • Manage the operation of the stores, maintaining critical spares, tracking spending.
  • Work with other departments to plan and prioritise workloads
  • Maintain high safety standards at all times
  • Manage all the CMM system, procedures, S.O.P.’s and work instructions
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Enforce all company and relevant outside body rules and regulations
  • Implementing Continuous Improvement plans and projects.
  • Coach and motivate team members in the benefit and importance of good housekeeping
  • Generate reports for the MD
  • Achieve the departmental KPI’s
  • Manage any Apprentices training
  • To establish and maintain the upkeep of engineering documents and library
  • Maintain and manage department budgets
  • To carry out cap ex budgets on time and in full
  • Identify technology advancements that may assist in Productivity Improvements
  • Working closely with Sales & Business Development Manager.
Education and Experience
  • BEng/MSc Mechanical or Electrical Engineering desirable, HNC or equivalent – essential
  • Multi-skilled engineering capability – essential
  • Ideally chartered status – Desirable
  • Previous experience of Maintenance Management -essential.
  • Prior experience in a plastics extrusion/injection moulding environment - desirable.
  • Previous experience of managing capital projects - desirable
  • Experience of delivering operational improvements across all areas of production – essential
  • Formally trained in Lean/SS or CI – desirable
