Purpose of role / This role is in the Social Work Quality Assurance (SWQA) team which sits inside the Office of the Chief Social Worker/Director Professional Practice group. SWQA is tasked with establishing, developing, and supporting the implementation of an organisational approach to quality improvement which enables a culture of continuous improvement and more effective outcomes for children.
The purpose of the Senior/Business Analyst SWQA role is to lead the development and implementation of processes which support the work of the SWQA team and the implementation of the quality assurance framework. In addition, they will play a key role in coordinating the work of the team and ensuring the team’s activities are aligned with the quality assurance framework.s
Key accountabilities
The Business Analyst SWQA will:
-Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance initiatives across the team and organisation
-Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of key processes across the team
-Support the work of the team by applying project, process, and risk management methodology
-Provide advice and recommendations to senior managers on business priorities and strategies
-Work closely with the SWQA team to understand their needs and provide options for operationalising and implementing solutions.
-Contribute to project planning, take responsibility for project outputs, and accepts accountability for quality of own work.
-Manage and/or co-ordinates quality assurance work streams to ensure the delivery of outcomes
-Provide regular and ad-hoc reports on aspects of the delivery of the quality assurance framework
The SeniorBusiness Analyst SWQA will also:
-Apply project management methodology to ensure research and evaluation work meets business requirements and business standards.
-Manage and delegate the allocation of work items and resources within the team (as required by the SWQA Manager)
-Take a leadership role within the SWQA team in terms of facilitating and supporting change and team capability
-Provide coaching and mentoring to other team members as well as support and advice as necessary
-Provide advice and support to other teams in Oranga Tamariki with regards to risk and quality assurance.
Experience, skills and behaviours
The Business Analyst SWQA will have:
-Knowledge of methodologies relating to the mapping, development and implementation of processes
-Experience in investigating and analysing problems, and reaching sound conclusions, and implementing solutions
-Demonstrated contribution to the success of large or complex projects or initiatives
-Client focus and demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive working relationships
-The ability to manage the process of gathering, analysing, storing and disseminating detailed information in a user friendly format
-Understanding of project management methodology
-The ability to write to a high standard (clear, accurate, concise, appropriate to the audience)
-Highly effective communication skills
-Sound judgement and political sensitivity
The Senior Business Analyst SWQA will also have:
-Advanced knowledge of and a successful track record of using methodologies relating to the mapping, development and implementation of processes
-Successfully led large or complex projects or initiatives.
-Successful experience in using project management techniques and methodologies
-Demonstrated ability to use well-developed communication skills (written, verbal) to inform and influence
-Ability to teach and mentor technical aspects of the position to other analysts and SWQA team members as necessary.
Qualification / -Relevant tertiary qualification preferred and/or comparable experience of working within a government environment on strategy and business development
