6. BRIEF RESUME OF THE STUDY

6.1 NEED FOR THE STUDY:

The process of cyclic menstruation is a natural phenomenon, normalcy of which gynecological health of women depends to a large extent. Regular cyclic menstruation results from the choreographed relationship between the endometrium and its regulating factors. Change in either of these frequently results in abnormal bleeding.

DUB is best defined as a abnormal bleeding from the uterus in the absence of organic pathology or genetal tract

Asrigdara characterized by excessive, prolonged, menstrual or inter-menstrual bleeding and is significantly seen in adolescent, peri-menopausal, and reproductive age group. About 10-30% of reproductive aged women suffer from this disorder

This type of artava vikara is distressing and can cause many complications like anemia and infertility . It also causes general debility, lack of concentration, discomfort etc. There is sharp increase in the incidence in modern era, hence require solution.

AYURVEDA describes wide range of treatment options in the management of Asrigdara. Among them lajjalu³ has been used since ages with other drugs in treating Asrigdara and pushyanuga churna is a reputed drug indicated in classical texts which is used in day to day practice in the management of Asrigdara .Hence lajjalu kalka as a single drug therapy in comparison with pushyanuga churna has been selected for the present study.
