Abstract outline

What does healing involve? Why will some people get better while others won’t?

Many factors are involved in getting better with one’s dis-ease.

Among these are:

The environment (Ecological - family – professional – social)

Personal ecology: living – eating- thinking habits - behaviours

The impact of thoughts on health: Positive thoughts versus negative thoughts – Placebo versus Nocebo

The importance of believing in the possibility of healing greatly impacts on the results of therapy

Epigenetic and healing: contesting the Central Dogma (Bruce H. Lipton)

The Ultradian Cycle of healing

Ernest Rossi’s metaphorical tree of mind-body healing

Decoding a disease: finding what caused the disease is an important factor for healing (case stories)

Ericksonian hypnosis:using the patient’s inner resources for healing. Finding the root of the disease (what’s behind the tree that hides the forest) – Avoid getting rid of the symptom but find what caused it and then explore new avenues.

Healing implies changing one’s ways (case stories)

The more the hypnotherapist knows about all these recent scientific data andshare it with the sick person, the more chanceit will give the patient to envision new possibilities or new avenues – or at least give him some new hope

Hoping is an important factor in healing

Respectful relationship with patient and mutual trust has great impact on healing possibilities.

The therapist’s own belief in the possibility of healing through the unlimited potential of the Unconscious has an impact on healing possibilities for the patient

Ericksonian hypnosis and mind-body healing with cancer patients: making radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment less painful and more successful (case stories)
