What you’ll need:
- Gloves
- Front and rear stands
- Tyre pressure gauge
- Rags

Here’s what you’ll need. A pair of gloves, a front and rear stands a tyre pressure gauge and some rags.

1 – Tyres

The screen transitions to a shot of the rear motorcycle tyre with the wheel’s air nozzle clearly visible. The mechanic who is wearing thick grey gloves pulls out a tyre pressure checker and places the end around the air nozzle. He checks the gauge to see the level presented then removes the gauge from the tyre.

Check both wheels’ tyre pressures and rotate each one to look for any damage to the tyre wall or tread.

2 – Suspension
[Visual transition/change]
The screen transitions to the front of the motorcycle where the front suspension is situated. The mechanic checks the front fork seals for leakage by rubbing his index finger in a circular motion around the base of the seal.

On the suspension, look around the front fork seals to see whether there’s any leaking fork oil. Then ensure that the triple clamp bolts are tightly fixed. Remember to check both the left and right-hand sides.

The screen transitions to a top down front view of the motorcycles handlebars. The mechanic then checks the front triple clamp bolts with his right hand, each one of these is situated below left, middle and right of the motorcycle dashboard.

3 – Brakes

The screen transitions to the mechanic checking the motorcycles brake cables that travel from the front brake down to the front wheel. He does this by pinching the cable at various points along the brakes to see if there is any damage or openings along them.

Run your fingers along the brake cables, checking they are in good condition and don’t have any nicks or abrasions. Also check the brake lever to ensure they operate correctly.

The mechanic then proceeds to clamp down on front right brake lever several times to check if they are working correctly.

4 – Oil

The screen shows a close up shot of the oil filter cap and the mechanic wearing a heavier grey glove. The mechanic checks the oil level by unscrewing the cap with his right hand and pulling out the oil cap that has oil over the long part that extends down into the motorcycle. The mechanic wipes the oil onto a rag he is holding with his left hand and holds the clean oil filter cap out in the centre of the frame.

Moving to the side of the motorcycle, check the oil level, making sure the motorcycle is leveled for an accurate reading before you do so.

5 – Radiator

The screen transitions onto the lower front half of the motorcycle. The mechanic proceeds to check the engine and surrounding area for damage or leaks with his right hand. Following this, the mechanic evaluates the radiator pipes that are also on the underside of the motorcycle to see whether they are bulging.

6 – Foot Pegs

The screen transitions onto a close up of the motorcycle’s left foot peg with the mechanic already firmly grasping the rubber. The mechanic contorts the pegs in several different directions reasonably forcefully to see how secure they are.

7 – Gears

The screen returns to a shot of the left foot peg, however the mechanic is now focusing on the gear shifter that is adjacent to the peg. The mechanic contorts the gear shifter up and down reasonably forcefully to see how secure they are. He does the same to the brake pedal that is on the other side of the left foot peg.

Put the gear shifter and brake pedal through their paces, making sure they are working well and not loose or sticking.

8 – Chain

The screen transitions to a shot of the mechanic bouncing the lower chain links up and down with his fingers to check if the chain is in good condition.

Take a look at the chain to make sure it’s not too slack or too tight and is well lubricated.

9 – Exhaust

The screen changes to a shot of the mechanic towards the back right hand side of the motorcycle. The mechanic grabs the silver silencer on the exhaust with both hands and proceeds to try and shake the exhaust up and down to see how firmly attached the component is.

Check over the exhaust and give the silencer a shake to make sure it’s firmly attached.

10 – Clutch

The screen transitions to an aerial shot of the front of the motorcycle over the left handlebar. The mechanic has his left hand over the clutch and proceeds to pinch the clutch closed three times.

Pull back the clutch to ensure it operates correctly. There should to be a few millimeters of play in the clutch cable.

11 – Throttle

The screen transitions to an aerial shot of the front of the motorcycle over the right handlebar. The mechanic has his right hand on the throttle and proceeds to turn it toward him and letting go at full lock so it snaps back, he continues to do this three times.

Give the throttle a twist and make sure it rotates smoothly before snapping closed when you let go.

12 – Fuel

The shot transitions to the mechanic with his hands on the handlebars and the keys in the ignition of the vehicle. He turns the key that is in the centre of the motorcycle’s console with his right hand. There is then a zoom in shot of the Motorcycle’s fuel gauge to see the pin sitting all the way left towards the empty side.

Give the fuel level a quick check on the fuel gauge, if you have one, or have a peek into the fuel tank if you don’t.

13 – Lights and indicators
[Visual transition/change]
The screen transitions to a frontal shot of the motorcycle behind the handlebars looking at the front lights. The mechanic presses a button on the handlebar that turns on both of the front headlights. The screen changes to the rear headlights and the lights are on. The mechanic then presses the brake pedal with his right leg that flashes the brake light on and off.

Turn on the motorcycle and check around all the lights including: front headlights, left and right indicators and brake light.

14 – Horn

The screen transitions to a side shot of the front of the motorcycle over the left handlebar. The mechanic has his left hand over the horn button and proceeds to press this button twice, he then steps away from the motorcycle and stands to the side.

Turn on the motorcycle and check around all the lights including: front headlights, left and right indicators and brake light.

Finally, give the horn a quick blast to make sure it’s working.

15 – First aid kit

The screen changes to a shot of the mechanic standing over the center of the motorcycle, he proceeds to open up the seat to view the small storage space located underneath. The mechanic puts his hand down the slot furthest away from him and pulls out a green first aid kit. He then places the first aid back in the slot where he retrieved it from and closes the seat lid.

It’s a good idea to keep a well-stocked first aid kit. Make sure you know where it is and if it’s up to date.You’re all checked and good to go, so time to get your gear on and go for a ride.

The screen transitions to the mechanic sitting on the motorcycle, he turns the key and a green light appears on the dashboard and the engine starts. The mechanic proceeds to place his right hand back onto the right handlebar and rev the throttle twice.
