TITLE:E-Learning Tutor (Brent, Harrow and Ealing)

LOCATION:Brent Centre for Health, Wembley

SALARY:£20,404 per annum, pro-rata (inclusive of Outer London Weighting)

HOURS OF WORK:15 hours per week

JOB TYPE:Permanent, subject to continued project funding

JOB PURPOSE:

The post holder will develop and provide flexibleE-learning modules as part of the ETE programmes to be delivered online to trainees. These will help to reinforce face to face learning and provide additional materials to trainees to develop their portfolios and develop skills at their pace. The tutor will provide on-line support and exercises, set and mark assignments and oversee learning logs for participants. Additionally, the role will establish and facilitate a safe forum/space online to encourage discussion and accessibility for those who may have difficulties attending the centre. There is an expectation that some of this online support will be out of main hours.

MAIN RESPONSIBLITIES

E-Learning Development

  • Developonline training programmes that adapt and change according to needs and goals of trainees.
  • Develop learning modules, (aims, objectives, content) that reflect and support ETE programmes and which are appropriate to the client groups or trainee cohorts, including to support basic numeracy and literacy skills development.
  • Contribute to ETE programme course development.
  • Collaborate with IT and Project Co-ordinator to ensure website development meets needs of the online courses and support to deliver them effectively.
  • Develop an on-line training programme that adapts and changes according to needs of trainees
  • Contribute to the development of ETE resources, including for use online.

E-Learning Delivery

  • Contribute and partake in trainee assessments.
  • Conduct on-line learning sessions, exercises and support, ensuring that support is adapted to attain learner retention and achievement.
  • Contribute to trainee inductions and understanding of e-learning element of the ETE programmes.
  • Set and mark online assignments.
  • Effectively manage and support the online forum, including to conduct Q&A sessions.
  • Support e-learners to develop their portfolios and work towards or achieve qualifications relevant to their interests.
  • Review, assess and provide feedback on individual e-learner’s ETE plans and portfolios.
  • Undertake and process regular reviews with all e-learners and as part of their on-going support with their ETE placement/employer.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Team Responsibilities

  • Promote and represent the project, e.g. at network meetings, to ETE providers, potential employers.
  • Participate in workshops, business engagement events and job fairs and lead on some activities.
  • Develop and sustain joint working and partnerships with other services and providers, liaising closely with Job Centre Plus, colleges, statutory partners, voluntary groups, and businesses to help meet project outcomes.
  • Record the results of all contacts on a daily basis in the relevant database and provide monitoring reports to the line manager on a monthly basis.
  • Work towards performance targets.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and events.
  • Actively engage with other team members and work constructively with colleagues and managers in all aspects of the work.
  • Work with and support the Peer Volunteers.
  • Contribute to the evaluations and reviews of the project and incorporate learning into practice.

  • Conduct all work within statutory responsibilities and within EACH’s policies procedures and professional guidelines e.g. Risk Management, Child Protection, Code of Ethics, Health & Safety and confidentiality policy.
  • Share information with professionals / agencies within the boundaries of the Data Protection Act, EACH’s confidentiality policy and any applicable information sharing protocols within the borough.
  • Work at all times with respect and sensitivity to the needs of volunteers and service users; ensuring they are listened to and that action required is consistently delivered.
  • Contribute to the development of user and carer involvement and support within the organisation.
  • Promote the aims and objectives and EACH and represent EACH at external meetings related to the work and as required by the manager.
  • Contribute to the review and development of EACH’s policies and practice.
  • Undertake all duties in line with the objectives of the post and any other tasks consistent with the nature and level of the post and as may be required by your line manager.
  • Where appropriate, staff may be asked to work at EACH’s projects in the different centres. Staff may also be required to work hours additional to contract hours, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Criteria / Essential Criteria / Desirable Criteria
Qualifications & Education /
  • Key skills / Functional skills at Level 2 in English, Maths and ICT or equivalent
/
  • Levels 3 / 4 award in teaching, Learning and Development or equivalent (e.g. PTLLS, Cert in Education)
  • OR Information, Advice and Guidance training

Experience /
  • Solid track record of working within a learning and development environment (e.g. as a trainer, coach, work programme, ETE facilitator)
  • Experience of providing assessment and learning functions
  • Experience of providing one to one support to facilitate the learning cycle
  • Experience of working with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of developing or putting together training modules or content

  • Experience of working within the voluntary sector
  • Experience of working with Black, Minority & Ethnic communities

Knowledge /
  • Have a good knowledge of the ETE sector, and current best practice
  • Understanding and skilled to provide on-line learning
  • Knowledge of the labour market
  • Understanding and empathy of the needs of the client group in relation to the social exclusion and barriers experienced by people affected by mental health, substance misuse and domestic violence to access and benefit from ETE
