Objectives for This Course

Objectives for this Course:

·  The participant will be able to (1) identify at least one US study supporting the existence of violence in the healthcare workplace and (2) identify at least one result of such violence on victims, quality of care and healthcare costs.
·  The participant will be able to identify 2 proposed causes of workplace hostility and discuss how students and new nurses internalize bullying behaviors.
·  The participant will be able to identify and define 4 key types of bullying behavior and list at least 4 visible symptoms of stress that victims may exhibit.
·  The participant will be able to list 4 personal foundations for successfully dealing with workplace violence and describe the steps of cognitive rehearsal technique.
