FWI Climate Change ambassadors Linda Mottram & Beki Brown. How can you help – use energy saving lights, insulate your loft, draught proof your home, install cavity wall insulation and double glazing if possible, use public transport, reduce as much waste as possible – recycle/reuse, reduce the amount of food waste in the home, review your energy supplier.

The Resolutions voting papers have arrived in the November WI Life, so please bring your completed paper to the December or January meeting for Gill to post.

Saturday 22nd April Earth Day, Stoke on Trent 6th form college 10am – 1pm. Meet and lobby your MPs, speak up about climate change. £5. collecting February.

Tuesday 25th April Homes and Gardens Day, £13. speakers Jack Willgoss of Wildergose Nurseries, a make up demonstration by students of Stafford College's Beauty Academy and Nicki Chapman, television presenter. Competition for the Helen Clayton Trophy , 7” beetroot & chocolate cake (see Gill for recipe) and Floral Art using Gerberars (first prize £10, entry £2.50) Collecting February

Friday 7th April, Anslow village hall Anslow WI cheese & wine fund raiser for 'Friends of Fountains' evening, with a theme of South America

Tuesday 30th May 6-8pm. County Show preview reception. Tickets £6.

County show classes: Produce: swiss roll, jam, Viennese whirls.

Handicraft: hat & scarf, hand held mask, piece of jewellery.

Floral: 24" sq, 24" sq, exhibit in tea cup & saucer.

Wednesday 31st May, Thursday 1st June County Show, Stafford

Wednesday 7th June NFWI Annual meeting, Echo Arena, Liverpool. Anslow is providing the link delegate and will be representing and reporting back to Hanbury & Draycott, Rangemore & Tatenhill and Rough Hayes. Travel by coach on the morning of Tuesday 6th June, arriving in time for shopping/visiting attractions; overnight stay at the Pullman Liverpool Hotel, Kings Dock, Liverpool on a B&B basis, twin room, single room available at a supplement. The WI pays for accommodation & travel and reasonable food & drink expenses. Return home after the meeting on the Wednesday afternoon. Closing date: February meeting

16th - 18th June SFWI Denman Federation weekend, £330, £50 deposit by 26th January, limited spaces

Charity of the year (Friends of Fountains) running total: £229 (fashion show)

The Rose Deag Rose Bowl, a watercolour painting competition for Novices, not previously shown at any WI competition. 'Looking Out to Sea' Entry fee £3.50. The entry may be mounted but not framed, portrait or landscape, the longest side no more than 18” or 45cm (including the mount). All entries to be displayed at the Spring Council meeting. Closing date Thursday 26th January
