Project Description (Provide a brief description and purpose for this project)
Comments: The primary DPS mission is to support other law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in protecting the citizens of New Mexico. The DPS fulfills this mission through a variety of means, one of which is to provide data, systems and networks that allow criminal justice agencies to access information in a timely fashion that is useful for decision making. The NMLETS is the primary system for providing the critical data law enforcement agencies need to identify if an individual is wanted or missing, if a vehicle is stolen, if an individual has a prior criminal history, if a parolee has an outstanding warrant or if an order of protection has been issued. The overriding objective of this project is to replace the current NMLETS system with one that provides advanced technologies, improves system response time and can be supported by DPS and vendor staff.

Significant Risks and Mitigation Strategy

Project being completed in a timely manner due to delays in approving procurement and contract paperwork. DPS plans to produce well defined plans and documents and monitor deadlines closely. DPS also believes matching user or system requirements to deliverables on this project is key to success and is, therefore, a possible risk factor. A requirements traceability matrix will be developed to monitor this risk closely.
