Mikulov: beautiful town south to Brno with a castle and very well preserved historical centre. bus journey from Brno takes approx. 1 hour)
Valtice – Lednice area: Valtice is a baroque town close to Mikulov (approx. 10 kms) with a chateau( The town is nicknamed “Wine capital” and if you like wine, you should not miss the National Wine Centre ( Valtice is closely linked with Lednice with another chateau and famous garden ( The whole area, so called Lednice – Valtice Cultural Landscape, is on UNESCO heritage list.
Trip to Mikulov could be combined with a visit to Valtice and Lednice (Brno – Mikulov – Valtice – Brno). You could also rent a bike there and do some biking, as this is a particularly cycling-friendly region.
Kromeriz: A town in the central Moravia. There is a chateau with a unique garden (UNESCO) and with other interesting sights. Don’t miss a chance to visit the Archiepiscopal wine cellar. (the bus/train journey from Brno takes approx. 1,5 hours)
Olomouc – former capital of Moravia. The city centre has maintained its baroque charm and in the same style is also the Holy Trinity Column at one of the two major squares, which is again UNESCO heritage monument. (the bus/train journey from Brno takes approx. 1,5 hours).
Trip to Olomouc could be also combined with a visit to Kromeriz (Brno – Kromeriz – Olomouc – Brno).
Trebic - An important cultural and historical event for the town was the year 2003 when the St. Procopius´ basilica and the Jewish Quarter with Jewish cemetery were incorporated into the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Telc – a picturesque renaissance town which has survived 40 years of communism without much damage. Great place to visit, though not the easiest to get to. bus journey [not direct bus] from Brno takes approx. 2 hours).
Cesky Krumlov – very popular tourist spot in Southern Bohemia. Beautiful town and castle, though packed with tourists and little bit far from Brno. train journey from Brno takes approx. 4 hours).
Trip to Cesky Krumlov could be combined with a trip to Telc and with staying one or two nights in either town
Wroclaw– thecity in the south-western Poland. The city was founded by the Czech prince, then was controlled by the independent Silesian princes, before becoming a Habsburg city and later a German city. It became part of Poland only after WWII and since then it is mainly a Polish city. Krakow – the former capital and one of the main attractions of Poland. Easy reach from and to Auschwitz with frequent buses and trains.
Vienna– Vienna was once the centre of the powerful Habsburg Empire, where decisions affecting the history of the entire continent were made. Its glorious past is reflected in its exuberantly theatrical architecture, best experienced through a tour of it famous Ringstrasse. As the world’s capital of classical music, Vienna was once home to such greats as Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn; today it still remains a vibrant cultural centre where the tremendous influence it exerted on Western civilization can still be felt at every turn. Berlin – Capital of Germany. Very easy to access from Brno: it takes approx. 8 hours to get there either by coach or by train.
London– one of the largest European low cost airline – Ryanair – operates flights from Brno to London Stanstead, makes the trip to UK affordable and convenient.
Transportation:
you can look for connection using all different means of transportation; applicable not just for the Czech Republic, but even for all Europe.
largest bus company and one of the largest travel agent in the Czech Republic. You can look up the airport tickets, as well as buy bus tickets to nearly all European countries. You can also visit them in their office at the Brno main square (nám. Svobody 17) – which is easy identifiable through large yellow banners on the façade.
