2. SSWA Report
Robyn Brierley circulated a snapshotdocument of the 2016 SSWA year.
Hosted 3 successful National Championships, Baseball, Soccer and Touch Football
Another successful year with Interstate team, 3 gold medals (Baseball, Netball 15s and 12s Boys Hockey) lots of other medals
Introduced the McMahon Shield
2017 National Hostings –15s AFL - Perth,Volleyball– Mandurah
Pacific School Games will be held in Adelaide Sports involved are Football, Netball, Golf, Hockey, Touch Football, 12s Basketball, Swimming, Diving, Goalballand Softball

4.1 Basketball shortened game for grading / Reduce to 10 min halves to be continued
4.2 Netball Game Times / Reduce 5 min ½ time will continue
4.3 Volleyball Rotation Rules / Rotation to be continued
4.4 Badminton 4 a side / 4/side to be discussed in
4.5 Basketball half time length / Reduce ½ time will continue with this
4.6 AFL 9 a side / Less teams but School Co-ords mtg voted to keep it / To be continued

5. Business arising – School Coordinators (22 September)
5.1 Coaches missing soccer meeting / Non-attendance resulted in some issues during the week as teachers were not aware of the information given at the start of the week / Highlight importance of attending through Bulletins. Phone call to touch base with non-attenders.
5.2 Student MCs / To be continued. Phonetic spelling to be requested on School Info forms if applicable
5.3 RAC Sponsorship / To be expanded to DHS in 2017. After review of SHS activities these may be incorporated into DHS / Water Bottles and hydration station to be sponsored by RAC.
5.4 AFL Mercy Rule scenarios / Suggestions once mercy rule has been invoked.
  1. To have winning team players stay in zone
  2. No tackling
Extend to field dimensions from 100mto 120m (40/40/40) / At half time – these strategies need to be invoked.

5.5 Badminton – 4 a side, a lot of waiting / Suggested modifications to - Use of more courts; doing duty; combining pairs / To be discussed with BWA and emailed to delegates for approval
5.6 Grading – Basketball and Netball / Suggestion - ask schools to nominate where they think there team will be placed following grading. This information will be used to allocate grading pools.
Coordinators discretion to adjust / To be adjusted in the bulletin and nomination form
5.7 Hockey and girls basketball numbers / Low numbers is a concern. / See what the nominations are and then try to fixture more games if necessary
3 on 3 is a possibility as is Hockey 7s
5.8 Volleyball – Mercy Rule / If the winning team reaches 20 no need to invoke the mercy rule / Adjusted in Bulletin
5.9 Volleyball – Playing venue / Ask for acromat net to be removed / Ask for acromat net to be removed
Ask about cost of Arena 1 for day 1 or finals (dependent on nominations)
5.10 Bona Fides / Give to Sport Coordinators
5.11 Playing in more than one sport / At SHS students can play in more than one sport at DHS this is only allowed where required to prevent a forfeit. Must get approval from the Sport Coordinator and opposing teams. / Adjust wording in Bulletin

7.1 Eastern (Meryon Montgomery) / Badminton idea to be discussed
7.2 Midlands (Trent Lockyer) / Schools participating – info pack to send to schools make contact with new teachers in Country areas and send welcome letter and gift.
Discussion of travel costs being an issue, request access to the DoE Travel Grant / Robyn to submit a request to the Management Committee for DHS schools to be eligible to access the Travel Grant

8.1 Finances / $3851.00 profit - includes funds from the DoE grant agreement.
8.2 Seating at Ceremonies / Need some organisation for the seating / Fill from the front left hand side
8.3 2018 20th year of DHS / Logos to put on shirts; and on water bottles; wrist bands; student ‘ball’ maybe supported by RAC; acknowledge original schools at opening ceremony
