Provide a brief overview
In this paragraph you should provide an overview of why you wish to remain in the course. You may wish to include: an overview of your academic history, evidence of your previous success and some information on the impact that receiving the ‘show cause’ letter has had on you.

Identify the issues
Here you must explain to the Course Coordinator the circumstances which have resulted in your unsatisfactory academic progress. You must outline what has happened in your life which has impacted on your study. Provide details of the circumstances. In this section where appropriate, you should explain and refer to any evidence which you plan to attach (such as a medical certificates).

Explain the action taken / solutions
You must provide evidence to show how your academic performance will improve by describing what has changed and or what steps you have taken to address the problems which led to your unsatisfactory academic performance for example: developing a learning plan with the Academic Skills Adviser, attending professional development courses, seeing a counsellor, receiving medical treatment, reducing your study load etc. Depending on your circumstances, you may also wish to outline changes to your personal circumstances, such as living arrangements or work commitments.

Conclusion
Provide a summary of the main points and reinforce your willingness to address the issues, summarise your passion for the course.
