  1. Introduction

Energy activities are the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. It is evident that emissions from energy production & use are the main source of GHG emissions. The term renewable energy covers a number of sources and technologies as different stages of development. By their natures, renewable energy sources are generally carbon-free or carbon neutral. Many renewable energy technologies have achieved major cost reductions over the last decades, which are expected to continue in the medium term as large global companies enter new energy markets for wind, solar & biomass technologies.
