LUNCH PROCEDURES
FOR FIELD TRIPS

·  Sack lunches may be ordered from your school kitchen for field trips. Since the sack lunches are prepared at the central kitchen, it is necessary to give sufficient notice for their preparation.

·  Three weeks notice from the requesting school will ensure that the meals are delivered on time and in sufficient quantity.

·  Due to food safety concerns, hot entrees will not be provided for sack lunches. Sack lunches will consist of the following:

1 Sandwich with 2 oz. of protein

1 serving of fruit

1 serving of vegetables

1 bag of chips or cookies

½ pint of milk

·  Four weeks prior to the field trip, visit your point of service or kitchen manager to request a field trip packet and a classroom roster. Highlight the names of the students requesting a sack lunch on the classroom roster. Complete and sign the sack lunch order form located in the field trip packet. Please note on this form any students who have special needs or food allergies (including those not ordering a meal). Return the roster and the sack lunch order form to the kitchen three weeks prior to the field trip.

·  If there are any changes, a final list of students requesting sack lunches is due to the point of service or kitchen manager three days prior to the field trip.

·  Make arrangements with your school kitchen to pick up your sack lunches on the day of your event. It is best if students come to the lunchroom and pick up their own lunches. If meals are picked up by someone other than the student, the lunches must be accounted for by the staff member picking them up. We ask that the person responsible sign/initial the completed meal accountability sheet (located in the field trip packet) verifying they picked up the meals. The staff member must then check off the names of each student on the meal accountability sheet receiving a meal as the meals are being served. Please return the signed and dated meal accountability sheet to the kitchen after the field trip.

·  Please provide a cooler(s) to carry the milk and lunches. Coolers are available on a first come first serve basis and may be ordered on the sack lunch order form. Lunches not consumed must be discarded.
