REPORT ON OBSERVATION OF WORLD PEACE DAY ON

21 SEPTEMBER 2016 AT KV.NO.1-ISHAPORE

The United Nations International Day of Peace (Peace Day) is a day observed worldwide on the 21st of September each year in diverse and meaningful ways;a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples, through a wide array of community-building activities and celebrations.

United Nations has chosen this day’s global theme for 2016 as “The Sustainable Development Goals: Building Blocks for Peace”, as development and peace are interdependent.

The Scouts, Guides, Cubs, and Bulbuls, at K.V.No.1-Ishapore, observed this day humbly, but, befittingly.

A ‘Poster making’ competition was held, with the 2016 global theme ‘Building Blocks for Peace’, for the Cubs and Bulbuls .Their wholehearted participation, under the guidance and supervision of teachers, resulted in a wonderful array of imaginative creations in the form of sketches, drawings, paintings, collage, quotations by great people from around the world. They were on the whole, inspiring, thought provoking and bearing message for spreading awareness about peace.

Mr. Satyajit Mishra, Principal, K.V.No.1-Ishapore, was all praise for the hard work put in by our Cubs and Bulbuls. In a short speech, he enlightened them about the origin and importance of the International Day of Peace.

All Cubs and Bulbuls then accompanied the Scouts and Guides on a ‘Peace March’, outside the Vidyalaya campus. It was a mighty enthusiastic lot, who ‘marched’ for Peace with vigour and fervour; holding all their posters and placards aloft, those little Messengers of Peace.

After returning to the campus, they put up all their posters on display, attracting attention of the rest of the school, thus making them spectators and participants at the same time.
