Those Weekend Golf Guys – Media Kit

Those Weekend Golf Guys are filling a huge, underserved portion of the Sports and Recreation Market: the folks who know they’ll never be the next Arnie Palmer, Cristie Kerr or Seve Ballesteros…but who don’t let that fact stop them.

They play just because they love to play. They don’t dream of riches or greatness or immortality…they simply aspire to be a little bit better today than they were yesterday. And if they’re not? Well what the hell; they’ll still be out there tomorrow.

These are the weekend hackers, the duffers, the Dawn Patrol. They are the unsung heroes, America’s noble turf warriors, the men and women who aren’t afraid to dress in pastel cardigans and burberry ball caps. The fearless, the irrepressible, the defiant and the indomitable. Every shot is a learning experience and every round is a story to be told. The course is a friendly battlefield where beer is consumed, bets are placed and legends are made. The world of Recreational Golfing is an epic adventure, a place of derring-do, cunning, strategy, skill, determination, humor and, above all, the sobering acceptance that we are all but mortals playing a game apparently designed by and for gods.

Those Weekend Golf Guys are in a formidable position to take advantage of a national passion, a passion that is in fact more compelling than watching or following professional golf because it’s something our listeners can actually experience and have an authentic relationship with. Our audience talks about us, shares us and is fiercely loyal to us because we offer the recreational golfer something of value.

We enjoy a fiercely loyal audience, an above average affluent audience, an audience that can connect with Those Weekend Golf Guyseasily either On-Air (with over 80 broadcast radio outlets carrying our program each week), On-Line (we’re available as a podcast on Spreakr, Stitcher, Libsyn and Mixlr) or On-Demand (each program is archived and available for download on our own website, thoseweekendgolfguys.com).

If you have something of value to offer our audience please contact us to discuss the various sponsorship opportunities available with Those Weekend Golf Guys.

Who Are Those Weekend Golf Guys?

John Ashton – Host:
John is a seasoned radio veteran, with over 25 years of broadcasting experience under his belt. Lucky for us he is much better at radio than he is at golf. On the course, John is a hacker. "Hey, if I break 85 I am happy!" With his skewed sense of humor, John leads the crew through every show with wit and wisdom. John is an expert interviewer. He makes sure all our guests bring out the information they want to convey in a way that is, above all, entertaining! / Tara Bassett – Co host:
From Beauty Queen to TV Personality to Golf Guys Co-host. Guess you can say Tara has finally made it big! OK, maybe it’s just us that say that, but we mean it. A great golfer, wonderful on-air talent and all-around great lady. She loves golf, loves life and loves sharing it all every week with the Weekend Golf Guys audience. Tara understands John’s sense of humor (a scary thought) and they complement each other perfectly on the air. Now That’s entertainment! / Jeff Smith – PGA
Jeff is recognized throughout the United States as one of the best teachers of the game. He joins us on air every week from the confines of the Golf Cave at his Plane and Simple Golf School in Columbus, Indiana. Jeff is a Golf Pro, a great teacher and brings credibility to the show. One of us has to actually know how to play the game well! Jeff can easily talk our listeners into a better game and does so each and every week with his Quick Fix segment and other contributions.
Biggs Tabler – Dir. Of Sales
Biggs is our resident curmudgeon who has played at most of the best courses in the world. He brings a lifetime of experience and volumes of stories. We refer to him as "our old man in funny pants". But not in front of him! He knows everyone and has been everywhere and we take advantage of that experience on a regular basis / Pamela Denny: Glamourous Golfing Girl
Pamela is the newest addition to the Golf Guys crew. She writes the Glam Golfer Blog. Read it on our website. Pam brings a softer, gentler side to the show and will be working on ways to engage more women in the game. She firmly believes in golf, it is better to look good than to be good and she looks marvelous!

Those Weekend Golf Guys began in 2009 as a 30 minute local program designed to promote golf in Louisville, Kentucky. We grew, we evolved, we listened to our audience and created a program the “average golfer” really enjoys. Unlike most Golf Talk Radio Shows, Those Weekend Golf Guys concentrate entirely on the average golfer, showing them how Golf can be more fun: whether that be new techniques, new equipment, or new places to play. From our beginnings in 2009 we have grown to 3 hours of weekly broadcast content heard On-Air in over 80 markets nationally; On Line at Podcast Sites like Spreakr, Stitcher, Libsyn and Mixlr; On Demand at our own show archive site. Our show is Fun, Humorous and, above all, Entertaining and has attracted an audience approaching 200,0001 listeners weekly!
