Philadelphia Meets New Orleans at the 8th Annual Mardi Gras Gala

PHILADELPHIA—February 6th, 2015– The Epilepsy Foundation Eastern Pennsylvania (EFEPA) is excited to announce that Arthur P. Johnson, President of Arthur Johnson Associates LLC and Phylis F. Johnson, Vice President of Community Outreach will be crowned King and Queen of the 8th Annual Mardi Gras Gala on Friday, February 6th, 2015. Each year the Gala celebrates a Philadelphia leader for their efforts to improve the local community for those living with epilepsy/seizure disorder. Decked out in beads, masks and feathers, this New Orleans inspired affair will directly support programs and services provided by the EFEPA.

The festivities will take place at the historic Crystal Tea Room in Center City, Philadelphia. After the 7:00 pm cocktail reception featuring the finest in bayou cuisine and entertainment provided by the Mummers, the Foundation will celebrate the Johnson’s coronation. Additionally the Foundation will recognize Michael Sperling, MD, Director of the Jefferson Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory and Dan Dougherty of Glenside, PA for their dedication to the cause of helping those impacted by epilepsy. After a delectable three-course gourmet meal, guests will party the night away to the sounds of Tribeca Grand Band.

Arthur and Phylis Johnson will be event’s first ever King and Queen, joining the royal court of past honorees including Mary Meder, President of Harmelin Media, Jim Connolly of Aeras, Gregory Osberg, former CEO of Philadelphia Media Network, Tom McCormick, Vice President of Patient Services, University of Pennsylvania Health System; Stephen Wouch, CPA, CFF, Managing Partner of Wouch, Maloney & Co., LLP; and Ted Riss,owner of Riss General Construction, LLC and Dr. Mike Cirigliano, Fox 29 News Medical Correspondent and owner of The Clinical Practices of Michael D. Cirigliano. Together they will “laissez les bons temps rouler…”

Hosted concurrently is the 4th annual Young Professionals Mardi Gras Gala. The event kicks off at 9:00 pm and goes until midnight, complete with open bar, light fare and live entertainment!

The 2014 Mardi Gras Gala netted nearly $80,000 in support of the Foundation’s free programs and services for the estimated 110,000 individuals living with seizures in eastern Pennsylvania. About the Honorees

Arthur P. Johnson is an acclaimed copywriter and the CEO of Arthur Johnson Associates, LLC, helping direct marketing companies connect with consumers worldwide, while creating diverse products. Arthur graduated from Swarthmore College with Highest Honors and Oxford University which he attended as a Marshall Scholar.

Phylis Feiner Johnson is an epilepsy advocate, health journalist and founder of the advocacy website epilepsytalk.com. Diagnosed with epilepsy at twelve years old, Phylis’ website aims to increase education about epilepsy and funding for epilepsy research. Phylis graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emerson College.
