Dear Parents,

This year I am entering my fourth year of teaching music here at Everett Elementary, and I am more excited than ever! Passion for music and my desire to teach that passion to children are my strongest attributes. I have an open and accepting personality that allows me to teach children and expose them to all genres of music. I believe all children should express themselves through music and movement. In my class I teach self-expression, self-confidence, and self-motivation through a classroom setting that is both exciting and educational!

About Me

My name is Courtney Malone. I grew up in Clarksville, Texas, which is where I still reside. I have loved music since I was a small child. I immersed myself in all styles and genres: 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll, Motown, 90’s alternative, Jazz, and Blues. I attended Texas A&M-Commerce where I studied mostly classical music and obtained a degree in Music Education. At TAMU-Commerce I was part of the Pride Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Chorale.

I now teach music at Everett and Aaron Parker Elementary. I play every summer with the Paris Municipal Band. I play ukulele and piano with my husband, Billy Malone. We have four children, Clementine, Cassius, and my step daughters, Criss and Cydnie.

Grading

Music students will receive a grade every six weeks. The standard grade is 94. Additional points require work outside of music, a one page report on the “Composer of the Month.” Reports have to be hand written, double spaced, no word for word. Deduction of points will result of behavior and participation in class.

Rules

M – Make good choices

U – Use good manners and be nice to others

S – Speak only when the teacher allows it

I – Involve yourself in all the activities

C – Care for all the music instruments!
