Announcements:

Good afternoon! We hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend. Next week, our student Kate Hollenbeck will be sending out the newsletter as Jorden McCord is moving to a different position in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Genetics. We greatly appreciate the work she has done for the department!

As a general announcement for PIs submitting proposals, all PIs listed in a proposal must be able to electronically approve the proposal. The KC system does not allow for administrative substitutions at the PI level. At the department and college level there are multiple approvers, but not at the PI level. If a PI is not able to electronically approve, due to foreign travel or lack of system access, the proposal submission may be delayed. All approvals are electronically done in the KC system. KC electronic approvals requiretwo-factorauthentification but can be done on a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, cell phone, or another device. If you have any questions about the approval process or logging into KC, anyone in the DER office would be glad to help!

We would ask that you please continue to submit PPFs early for proposals due in July and August. This allows extra time for approvals to route via KC as well as to allow time for delays as faculty are still learning the new system too.

This week we have made new information to the newsletter green.

Have a great weekend!

This NIH FOA invites applications proposing to study HIV infection, HIV-associated conditions, HIV treatment, and/or bio behavioral or social factors associated with HIV/AIDS in the context of aging and/or in older adults. Research approaches of interest include clinical translational, observational, and intervention studies in domestic and international settings. Similar opportunities may be found here (R21) for $200,000 and here (R03) for $50,000.

The Baxter IIR Grant Program encourages investigators to submit applications for funding that provide scientific or clinical research leading to improvements in clinical care, healthcare delivery and, subsequently, benefits patients worldwide.

This NIH FOA encourages collaborative research applications on drug abuse and addiction that take advantage of special opportunities that exist outside the United States. Special opportunities include access to unusual talent, resources, populations, or environmental conditions in other countries that will speed scientific discovery. Projects should have relevance to the mission of NIDA and where feasible should address NIDAs international scientific priority areas.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai (PAS Mumbai) seeks proposals for a project entitled “Green Hackathon.” Through this project, a grantee will implement a two-day green hackathon in Mumbai in which up to 40 entrepreneurs, developers, researchers, environmental practitioners, and students will be invited to be mentored by an expert and to work in teams on a proposed technological or other project that addresses an environmental issue. Two proposed projects will be awarded small seed grants for implementation of their winning proposals.

Contract type: Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)

  • Expected value: $750 million - $1 billion
  • Estimated Period of Performance: 5 years
  • Location: Worldwide. Individual task orders will have geographic specificity.
  • The pre-solicitation is available on FedBizOpps.gov at this link.

USAID will use this mechanism to support the three core programmatic objectives of the US Government’s Global Food Security Strategy:

  • Inclusive and sustainable agriculture-led economic growth
  • Strengthened resilience among people and systems
  • A well-nourished population, especially among women and children.

This project will be a demand-driven support mechanism that provides country-level sector and sub-sector analysis, program design, and implementation services. The project will support the development of climate-smart agri-food systems that are productive, profitable, inclusive, nutritious, and resistant to shocks. This project will be an umbrella Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) type contract. The IDIQ solicitation is to become a preselected partner (“IDIQ holder”) that becomes eligible to bid on discrete opportunities (“task orders”) that are only open to IDIQ holders to bid on. Work under task orders will include development interventions, but may also have research components. By joining a successful consortium, MSU will gain access to bid on an estimated $750M - $1B in USAID agri-food funding over the next five years.
