Calling all Former McNeese Student-athletes
The McNeese Athletic Foundation is working to rebuild the M Club, an association for former McNeese lettermen. Right now we are in the process of creating a former lettermen database. But we need help gathering contact information of these former student-athletes. Former lettermen are asked to contact the Athletic Foundation office at 337-475-5279.
Membership in the M Club will require an annual donation to the McNeese Athletic Foundation. This money will go directly to the scholarship fund of the sport the student-athlete lettered in. Members will receive all the benefits from the Athletic Foundation associated with their giving level. In addition, once a former lettermen database is completed, members will have access to contact information for former teammates. Other activities for the M Club have been discussed and will be decided on in the future.
For more information, please contact Kelly McCall in the McNeese Athletic Foundation office.

Blue beats Gold 20-7, Spring Football Game
McNeese spring football game LAKE CHARLES – McNeese State punter Jason Cook had a day as a Cowboy quarterback here Saturday as the Cowboys concluded spring football drills with their annual spring game, the Blues posting a 20-7 victory.
Cook, the Cowboys’ regular punter for the past two seasons, had been pressed into duty at quarterback during the spring due to lack of depth at the post and took most of the snaps for both sides at Saturday’s spring game. The former high school quarterback took over as signal caller for both sides when freshman Chance Mistric – the Gold team starting quarterback - went down with an injury early in the game. Also, returning regular Scott Pendarvis was not scheduled to play in the game but did see some action. Still, it was Cook who took most of the snaps, completing a combined total of 16 passes for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns for both squads as the Blue team beat the Gold 20-7.
The Gold scored first on a 16 yard pass from Cook to Drew Blanchard but then Cook went over to the Blue side and connected on a six yard td pass to Andy Bertrand.
He later led the Blue on a drive that culminated with tailback Brent McPhatter scoring from two yards out. And, on the final play of the game – with only one second left – the Blue defense got on board when Travis Moses intercepted a Cook pass on the 40 yard line, returned to the 20 where he lateralled to Kenton Alleyne who went the final 20 yards for the score.
Chris Thomas of the Gold team was the game’s leading rusher with 58 yards on 17 carries while Henry Smith of the Blue led all receivers with six catches for 52 yards.
Defensively, all-conference tackle John Paul Jones had four tackles for a loss for the Blue while end Brian Smith had two tackles for a loss, a sack and a fumble recovery for the Gold.
(Scoring Summary) GOLD: Drew Blanchard, 16 pass from Jason Cook. John Marino kick BLUE: Andy Bertrand, 6 pass from Jason Cook. Travis Pickering kick BLUE: Brent McPhatter, 2 run. Corey Little kick BLUE: Kenton Alleyne, 20 interception return.
