This video will show you how to complete and submit a Requisition in Taleo.

Begin by navigating to Taleo using the Quick links section on the HR website

or by searching for Taleo on your my.boisestate.edu employee page.

In Taleo select Create a Requisition

Select Benefit Eligible

If you are hiring for a Non Benefit Eligible position, consult with your Talent Acquisition Specialist or use the HR Consultation Wizard to determine the first step in your hiring process.

Click Next

Type in and select your Position Control Number (PCN) or Job Code or click the search icon next to the field

Use the Quick Filters to search.

Click the Select button to the right of the position.

In the Department Recruitment Contact field, click the search icon.

This field defaults to the preparer of the Requisition but may be edited to the appropriate person.

The individual selected in this field will receive recruitment notifications and can update the candidates’ status during the recruitment process.

Click Next

Primary Location will default to Boise, Idaho. To update this information, click the search icon and select the appropriate Primary Location for this position.

To update the Organization and Job Field for the selected PCN or Job Code, please contact your Talent Acquisition Specialist.

Click Create

Clicking on the Diagnostic Tool icon in the right hand corner of the Requisition will display list of information fields required for Saving or Requesting Approval.

In the Owners section, use the icon to search and select information for the following fields:

Talent Acquisition Specialist: Select your assigned Talent Acquisition Specialist

Position Supervisor: Select the supervisor for this position. This person will receive Onboarding notifications for the selected candidate and is automatically added to the approval workflow for the Requisition.

Additional Recruitment Contact: Select an additional employee to have the same access as the Department Recruitment Contact

Click the Add Search Committee Members button to search for and select Search Committee Members to have view only access to candidate information.

To add Search Committee members who are not employed at Boise State University, email the Human Resources Information System team at

In the PCN Profile Section, complete the following fields:

Job Announcement Title: Enter the title of the position as you would like it to appear on the Job Announcement

Action Type: Select the appropriate option for this position from the drop down

Date Position Vacated: If applicable, enter when this position was or is expected to be vacated by the previous incumbent

Target Start Date: If applicable, select the Target Start Date for this position. Be sure to account for duration of posting, interviews, background checks, etc.

Pay Basis: Select whether the employee will be paid on an hourly or salary basis

Minimum Salary: Enter the minimum salary determined for this position

Maximum Salary: Enter the maximum salary determined for this position

Other Compensation (Stipend/Start Up Funds): If applicable, enter the amount of other compensation including Stipends and Startup Funds

Be sure to review all read-only fields to ensure accuracy for this position. Contact your Talent Acquisition Specialist to update information.

In the Budget and Funding Source Information section, complete the following fields:

Budget Information: Describe how this position will be funded. This may include one or many of the following options.

Permanent budget; Approved Memorandum of Agreements; Approved Special Funding; Local Funding Sources; Auxiliary Funding Sources; or other

Funding Source and Distribution: Use the icon to select the Funding Source and enter in the Distribution percentage of the Funding Source for this position.

Click the link in the Funding Source Help Text to navigate and log in to PeopleSoft to translate your Funding Source Segment Values into a 5 digit HR Funding Source Value.

When in PeopleSoft, click on the Chart Field Details link. This will take you to a new screen.

Enter in your fund, department, cost center, supplemental, and project values if applicable.

Click ok

Copy the 5 digit combination code.

This is the 5 digit funding source value you will need to complete the Funding Source field in the Taleo Requisition.

Paste it here.

In the Job Announcement Content section, type or copy and paste the desired job announcement language in to the text box. If needed, refer to the Job Announcement Template provided by Human Resources which is accessible by clicking this hyperlink.

If using the template, once it opens edit the text in red font.

Then copy the edited sections and paste them into the Job Announcement Content section.

If there is information in this field you will need to delete it prior to pasting.

All information included in this field will be published in the Job Announcement. This includes salary information.

Use the Duration of Posting after Final Approval dropdown to select the job posting time frame.

If your department would like to pay for additional advertising for this position, please include the following information in the Additional Advertising Budget section.

Advertising Budget: Enter the amount available for additional advertising

Advertising Funding Source: Enter in the Funding Source that should be charged

Include any additional locations your department will post the Job Announcement to in the Additional Department Initiated Postings field.

The standard posting sites may include: Boise State Careers, powered by Taleo; Higher Ed Jobs; Idaho Department of Labor; Facebook, andTwitter

If the position requires job specific questions, contact your Talent Acquisition Specialist to populate the Screening Questions section. Screening questions may be used to identify candidates who meet minimum qualifications required for the position.

Click Save and Close.

You may be prompted to begin the Approval Workflow process if you have completed all of the required fields on the Requisition.

Select cancel, if you do not wish to Route for Approval.

When ready to submit for approval, click the Route for Approval button at the top of Requisition or in the More Actions dropdown select Request Approval.

The following Approval Workflow Participants will be automatically included: yourAssigned Talent Acquisition Specialist and the Position Supervisor.

Click the Add Approver button in the lower left corner to search for and select the following Approval Workflow Participants:

Department Funding Source Person, Budget Office Representative, Department Head/Dean/Associate Vice President, and Vice President.

Use the Standard Approval Workflow Matrix to identify the Recruiting and Hiring Approval Workflow Participants for your department. This matrix can be found on the Human Resources website or on the UFS Training Portal website.

Use the Order dropdown to select in what order the Approval Workflow Participants will receive their notifications to review and approve the Requisition.

Not changing the order dropdown will result in all approvers receiving approval notifications at the same time.

Add a comment in the comments field. This field is required.

Click done to submit your Requisition.
