SCEAA UPDATEDecember 2017

Dear members,

This UPDATE comes to you with news of a few changes to SCEAA!

First, we have decided that because of the increasing costs of printing and postage, our peer reviewed journal, The Social Educator, will from the start of 2017, be emailed to you as a colour PDF electronic journal.

Our co-editors Dr Peter Brett and Angela Colliver have led the publication of high quality peer reviewed journals and our thanks goes to them for this work. In the next year the journal will focus on scholarly discussion of the ways we are across the nation embracing Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and implementing all components of the Australian Curriculum, including the general capabilities and cross curriculum priorities, in diverse ways as well as on wider debates in your field.

The change to e-journals means that our membership rates have changed. Institutional membership rates have been reduced to $100 per year, full individual membership is $65 per year with e-journals (a reduced fee) and students are free. We ask you to encourage your pre-service teachers to take advantage of this offer, and your colleagues to join! The membership form is provided on the last page of this newsletter.

We know that ACARA staff are currently developing work samples for HASS primary and secondary subjects, so you will need to keep your eye on the homepage of the Australian Curriculumto see when these are released, but we will keep you posted.
