Job Purpose: / Working within the Christian ethos and aims of the YMCA Glenrothes, to receive homeless people and admit them to temporary accommodation, provide them with basic advice and assistance and ensure the safety of the building and people within.
Provide quality emotional and practical support/guidance to young homeless people with the aim of encouraging, and enabling, independent living.
Responsible to: / Y Supported Accommodation Team Leaders
Responsible for: / Providing cover for Accommodation Workers and Case workers on an “as and when” basis, primarily for sickness, annual leave and training.
Location: / YMCA Glenrothes Supported Accommodation localities
Special Requirements: / Shift Work to include on site sleep overs as and when required

Relationship Management with Stakeholders and Agencies
¨  Liase with other statutory and voluntary organisations and departments with similar and sympathetic interests.
¨  Ensure that the Supported accommodation service have close and friendly links with the local community.
Working Approach
¨  Work collaboratively and assist, as appropriate, colleagues, residents and visitors. This includes regularly attending team/other relevant meetings and keeping colleagues up-to-date on relevant work issues.
¨  Help develop positive working relationships with key partner agencies, stakeholders and suppliers in pursuit of the YMCA Glenrothes objectives.
¨  Support the YMCA Glenrothes Management Team in creating a supportive and participatory working environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: / Support and Guidance
¨  Receive and admit referrals to temporary accommodation, completing all related Risk Assessment/Induction paperwork and records, adhering to new admissions procedures.
¨  Introduce new referrals to other services as required, through the support element of the service.
¨  Provide ad-hoc support and basic advice to service users relating to Housing/Welfare Rights, DWP Benefits.
¨  Keep awareness of any legislative changes which may affect the project and the residents, keeping the Line Manager informed of these changes when discovered
¨  Ensure service users are aware of their responsibilities whilst residing in their temporary accommodation inclusive of Health & Safety and Fire Safety procedures.
¨  Encourage service users to adhere to their responsibilities towards the temporary accommodation, themselves and others.
¨  Record demographic information pertaining to new service users and adhoc support hours onto relevant data bases.
¨  Keep up to date records of all information pertaining to residents.
¨  Carry out risk assessments and work within and follow all aspects of health and safety with regard to residents, staff, buildings etc.
¨  Work within policies, procedures and practices at all times and adhere to boundaries and confidentiality when working with young homeless people, their visitors and other professionals.
General
¨  Maintain the accommodation register and provide void details to designated representatives of Fife Council.
¨  Maintain and update all records and files in the required format.
¨  Conduct any administrative duties required; e.g. filing, photocopying, etc.
¨  Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of the accommodation and advise in the first instance the Team Leader and secondly to the Maintenance and Facilities Co-ordinator (or other designated authority) the need to replace/upgrade any fixture/fittings/decoration.
¨  Monitor and operate CCTV.
¨  Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are effective and conduct regular fire safety drills.
¨  Read all report/personal file entries since last shift and act upon any messages or specific duties as requested.
¨  Keep an accurate and correct report of any incident occurring affecting the security/safety of any resident, and report immediately to the Manager any incident or damage to property.
¨  Conduct regular inspections of communal areas, outside areas and service user’s rooms, as procedure.
¨  Maintain accommodation inventories ensuring they are accurate at all times.
¨  Ensure vacant rooms are cleaned and re-stocked with the appropriate provisions.
¨  Monitor the arrival and departure of visitors, ensuring all visitors have vacated by the designated time appropriate to the temporary accommodation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: / Support and Guidance
·  To be part of a peripatetic support team with a willingness to travel throughout Fife.
·  Provide support and assistance by transporting and accompanying service users to meetings and appointments, providing support, advice, information and advocacy as and when required.
·  Where appropriate to admit new service users into shared flats, ensuring that all required induction procedures are followed and all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
·  To case manage a minimum number service users, assisting service users to develop and implement agreed support and action plans towards resettlement and more independent living.
·  Monitor and review Risk Assessments/Risk Management Plans/Support and Action Plans in consultation with service users.
·  To make appropriate referrals to other professionals and agencies to achieve the best outcome for service users.
·  Ensure that the temporary accommodation is adequately equipped and that it is kept in good condition and to highlight and report issues in the first instance to the Team Leader and secondly to the maintenance and facilitations co-ordinator (or other designated authority).
