Things to know about the PWRBA Bee School Application Process

  • Please join us at the OpenHouseto meet beekeepers on Saturday,Nov. 19th,2016 from 1-3 pmat the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road (Rt.28), Manassas, VA
  • Applicationsare accepted anytime up to the OpenHouseSaturday,Nov.19th 2016
  • Applicationswillbe reviewed afterthe Open House anda rosterofthe 2017class will bemade available in earlyDecember2016.Space available, we will continue to accept applications into January, 2017.
  • If you are accepted into class, class meets 8 times between mid-January and mid-March on TUESDAY evenings from 7-9 pm.
  • The ClassFee(includes class books, presentations, and PWRBA membership dues) will be $100.00perfamilyDO NOT PAY AT THIS TIME- WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE NOTIFIED THAT YOUR APPLICATION IS ACCEPTEDin earlyDecember.
  • This course is verypopular and has filled up most years. Class size islimitedto25. Selection forclass isbasedonapplication and if needed, evaluation and/orlottery. Active PWRBA members will be given priority.
  • You should know that the initial costforsetting upyourbeehivesaveragesapproximately$600-$800 including equipment and bees, butnotincluding the class tuition.Also,be awarethatmanipulatingbee hive bodiesdoesrequire strengthenough to liftheavyboxesfilled withhoneyweighing sometimeswell over40 or more pounds.
