Dear Parents,

This is in regard to the poster and artifacts that the children need to have for the LivingWax Museum which will be held on June 2 from12:45-2:30. You are all invited to come and visit our exhibits!

Poster/Tri-fold board—it does not matter which one you choose for your child to complete. It will be displayed during the wax museum. The poster should contain symbols that would tell about the person’s life. These can be printed or drawn on the poster/tri-fold board and should have captions to explain what they are. It is due May 31 and is to be completed at home!

Artifacts—each child will have a table to display their items on. Again, the items should reflect the person’s life in some way. An example would be if your person was a baseball player you might display a glove, hat, trophy, and theplayer’s stats for a season. Each artifact should have a tag explaining what it is and what it reflects in the person’s life. These can also be pictures of the person doing something or pictures of baseball related events. The children should have 4-6 artifacts for their table. These items can be brought into class starting May 27and they will be able to work on the tags in the classroom. Their report will be displayed on the table as well and is considered an artifact.

Activation—each child will need some type of activation or signal that a visitor wants to hear them speak. For example, if you are a baseball player you could have a glove and ball. If the visitor wants to hear you speak then they would put the ball in the glove. If you are a race car driver, you could have a green flag and if a visitor wants to hear you speak they would wave it. Your activation should have something to do with why your person is important. The students need to have this worked out by May 27 and will work on a tag explaining it in class.

Dress for the museum—your child needs to dress like the person they are portraying. I do not expect anyone to buy expensive items but I do expect the children to be creative and use what they have. If you are a judge you should not wear jeans and a tee shirt. They can bring their clothes the day of the museum which is June 2, and they will be able to change here at school to get ready for their exhibits.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to write us a note, send an email or call the school at 324-4142.

Thanks,
