Self reliance is important. / We should live close to nature, for it is our greatest teacher. Nature is everything, and understanding its "language" can bring us closer to God. In other words, if you want to be close to God, go sit out in nature for awhile.

Poem 1: Analyze poem 1’s Transcendentalist characteristics / He is annoyed by shallow, beautiful, and rich people because they do not have a conscience. They value what they can see and touch and own, their “gold”, but these are all “lies” and do not teach them anything. / The woods lead all souls to the good, because everything is spiritual. / His “god” is on top of his neck, in other words, his own head/mind is his god. / He sees god when he see his own eyeball, they are one being. The “good” that all souls are lead to is the Oversoul, so all Souls become one in this. / The purple mountain and ancient woods speak to him, and to all souls, leading them into the “Good”.
