This is a busy time at GES. Our annual Spring Fling, one of our PTA
fundraisers, will be held this Sunday, April 12th, from 12:30-4:30 P.M.
Families are encouraged to come have fun, while supporting our
school.There will be games, food, entertainment, and a silent auction. Please bring your friends and family, and let’s have some Cardinal Fun!
IT’S TESTING TIME! We are proud of the learning that is occurring at GES,
and it’s time for our students to “show what they know!” The TennesseeComprehensive Assessment Program(TCAP) will be given to students in
grades 3-5 on April 28th-May 1st. Our first and second grade students will takethe Stanford Assessment May 7th-9th, so information will be forth
coming. During testing weeks, please make sure that students are in
attendance, punctual, get a good night’s sleep, and eat breakfast each
morning. Please encourage him/her to do their very best.
Please encourage your child to read at home. If students have completed a book and want to take an Accelerated Reader (AR)test, the computer lab isopen Monday mornings from 8:00-9:00. They must have their
usernamesand passwords with them.The AR book search site is

Parent Connection
Parents are their children’s first teachers, and we hope the parents that
participated in Parent University’s Reading and Math courses learned
strategies that will enable them to continue teaching their children at
home. As we approach our state mandated testing season, please continue

GES Night at the Grindhouse
GES students displayed their Cardinal pride and talentlast month when the
Grizzlies played the Sacramento Kings. The cheerleaders performed, the chorus
sang the National Anthem, and the boys and girls basketball teams scrimmaged during halftime. We appreciate those GES parents and friends that supported this event.
