Rules, Procedures and Suggestions

Rules:

1- Be on time, (quizzes will be given at the beginning of the class). Be courteous to the class. Bring your own materials(notebook, text book, calculator, pen ...). I will dismiss you not the bell.

Procedures:

2-Leaving the class during class time requires hall pass and signing your name and your destination on the list.

3- No assignment will be accepted after the due date

4- Be courteous to your classmates and your teacher at all time.

5- Follow teachers directions at all time.

6- During labs safety is always number one.

7- Respect each other’s opinion

Suggestions:

8- Take good notes

* Lectures => Develop your own shorthand system. Abbreviate words,

use common symbols. Don’t try to write everything. Write key words, clues

* Notes from book => Get the big picture. Glance through chapter. Read the summary. Look for the key points. Use different color pens

* At home => Review your lecture notes and you text book notes the same night

9- If you are absent you’re still responsible for all missing works. We will finish all standards.

10- If you are not an independent learner, find a good study partner. Peer tutoring is proven to be very effective. Study center is available as well.

11-Develop a good study habit (spend at least half an hour of studying every night.)

12-Schedule your study time (in chemistry every chapter is related to each otherspend some time to review some of the older materials).

13-Read the new materials from your text beforeit is discussed in class.

14-Be an active reader. (Chemistry isunlike any other subject, you must read , understand, predict the outcome, learn about symbols, understand charts , tables, and illustration all together).

15- Make sure you know how to solve each problem, copying from somebody else is not going to help you

16-Do not study a lot of chemistry at one once. (Seven days a week, 30 minutes each is sufficient).

17-Cram sessions before a major exam are not effective.

18- Over learn basic skills through practice. Many concepts are needed throughout this course.

19- I am the best chemistry teacher in the milky-way and Andromeda galaxies combine, and you’re the best student in the entire universe, together we will achieve excellence.

20- Read the instruction regarding safety in the chemistry lab

21- Remember, I do not know that you understood the materials unless you ask me.

I honestly believe that every one of you can understand chemistry as long as you believe in your self. This class will provide an exciting beginning to your understanding of matter.
