Component Summary
The purpose of this unit is to enable learners to be able to look after lawns. They will learn how to work safely, carry out lawn care tasks using the correct tools and equipment and to clean up a site when they have completed the work.

This component has 4 standards

2 / Know about lawn care operations
3 / Be able to assist with lawn care operations
4 / Be able to leave the work area in a safe condition
C3 / COMPONENT STANDARDS & ASSESSMENT
Standard 1
Learners will:
Be able to prepare for lawn care operations
Learners should know/be able to:
a. / Personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for carrying out lawn care operations
b. / Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for carrying out lawn care operations
c. / Tools and equipment to be used for lawn care operations
Assessment:
This standard is assessed internally by the centre and externally verified by AIM Awards. Please read this guidance in conjunction with Appendix 1 - A Guide to Assessing AIM Awards Qualifications.
The following assessment methods can be used in the assessment of this standard:

Learners should know/be able to:

b. / Appropriate top dressing to an area of lawn
c. / Edge a length of lawn
d. / A bump/raised area from a lawn

Learners will:
Be able to leave the work area in a safe condition
Learners should know/be able to:
a. / Waste and debris in accordance with health and safety guidance and site requirements
b. / Clean and tidy the site
c. / Clean tools safely
d. / Store tools safely
Assessment:
