TheRt.Rev.Barry L.Beisner has indicatedhisintentionto retireand callfor the election of anewdiocesanbishop.Undertheoversightofthe StandingCommitteeofthediocese,theSearchCommitteewillbechargedwith aminimumofthefollowingresponsibilities:
- gatheringinformationfromaround ourdioceseastothequalitieswe seekinournextbishop
- developadiocesanprofile for potentialcandidatestoconsider astheydiscern whethertoplacetheirnamesinnomination
- screenandinterviewpotentialnomineesthroughaseriesof stages
- recommendfinalnomineesforthe approvalbythe StandingCommittee
Itis anticipated thatthework ofthecommitteewill begin shortlyafter this year’s diocesanconventionand
continueuntilafinalslateis namedinthe latefallof 2018.

mandatoryrequirementforservingontheSearchCommittee.
Indeciding whoto appointtotheSearch Committee,the StandingCommitteewillbelookingforpersonswhoareabletodemonstratecompetencyinoneormoreofthefollowingskillsets:
- Abilitytolistenandelicitinformationfrom others; organizingsuchlearnings
- Abilitytowriteaprofilethataccuratelydescribesthedioceseand articulatesacallforthenextbishop
- Abilitytodevelopscreeningtoolssuchaswrittenessayquestions,questionsforSkypeinterviews,questionsanddiscussiontopicsforadiscernmentretreat,andinstrumentsforevaluatinginformationprovided
- Eventplanningandmanagementskillsforplanningadiscernmentretreat
- Abilitytoworkcollaborativelywithothers.
- Educationandcommunication skills
- Experiencewithcurrenttechnology,socialmedia,videorecordingskills,etc.
- Robustandwell-establishedprayerlife
- Knowledgeofdiocesanpolicies,procedures, andthefunctioningofa Bishopinadiocese
