L&T INFOTECH PAPER ON 19th MARCH AT BHUBANESWAR
Hi friends....myself KUNAL from Jagannath Institute for technology & management, paralakhemundi. Now i m in 6th sem...here i m going to tell about my experience about that placement drive. this was my second company bcoz i was not eligible for INFOSYS due to some new conditions. I was very shocked due to this and frankly speaking i had not a good preparation for this drive. I decided not 2 attend the drive but my girlfriend and my elder sister forced me to attend the drive. Around 1300+ candidate attended the drive.
There were 3 rounds..
1. Written test
2. Group discussion
3. Personal Interview
Written test:
It was consist of three sections.
1. Aptitude(30 quest)
2. Reasoning(30 quest)
3. English(30 quest)
Aptitude section was a little bit tough. I didn't prepared well for this section but anyhow i managed to do this portion. My suggestion is to refer R.S.AGGARWAL for this section. It is just more than enough...but u need to be conscious towards time management as there was sectional and overall cutoff.
Reasoning was the portion which was positive point 4 me as i prepared it in a nice manner for INFOSYS. Again u go through VERBAL & NON-VERBAL REASONING BY R.S.AGGARWAL....Try to complete this portion in short while of time bcoz all the question will be easy..
English eas in between the two...not so easy..not so hard...4 synonyms were there which were as usual tough. Then two passages were der...which u should do in the last coz it is an easy part.. Regarding english i will say that if u have a good background of english then it will be a plus point for u...
Around 5:30 p.m. results for the written test were declared. Around 550+ cleared the written test and i was one of them.
Group Discussion:
After the results of written test 47 batches for GD were formed...In each batch 12 students were present..I was in batch no:31...Aroound 7p.m. we were called for the GD...we suggested the topic LIVE IN RELATIONSHIP....but the HR changed the topic by LOVE MARRIAGE Vs. ARRANGED MARRIAGE..
So..u be prepared with 2-3 topic of your own...our discussion went in a nice manner...and finalle i emerged as the leader...that was a positive sign for me..so friends..for GD keep u need to be a good communicator..u need to keep your points in a clear manner with in a short while of time..
Around 9:30p.m. results were declared...selection was very tough as they were selecting maximum 4 from a group...from our group 4 were selected and again i made it..
After results documents verification were done and we were said to report at 8;00 a.m. sharp by next day...
Interview:
we were knowing that PI will be held but they changed the programme and they converted PI into Group interview...In my group 12 members were der..
Around 9:30 a.m. we were called for the interview...it was a HR interview only...general HR questio wer easked from us....when my turn came i thought that if i could represent myself in a nice manner for 10 minutesmy life will be changed....
HR: From where u are?
Me: told..
HR: About family background.
Me: told
HR: are you willing to work anywhere?
ME: told..
HR:what is your position in your class?
Me:told..
Hr: then questions from summer training.. if any(not technical)
Me: told about my training.
HR:then he asked some questions about hobbies...
Me:told in detail(be prepared for lot of questions from this part)
HR: do u know anyone in L&T?
Me: i told about my school senior who was working in L&T for 3 yrs.
HR: finally he said..if u have any questions>
Me:do u neet to go for some additional training to be fit in L&T?
HR: replied in a very nice manner...
Then we had to wait for almost 6 hrs. for the final result...result was cummulative..i.e written+ marks in GD+Interviw...... my name was called at 6th position....intially it was unbelievable that i did it...but this was true that i was placed....after the final results..we were called to collect our offr letters...and it was really nice to see your job in your hand....i was overjoyed after the results as i didn't thought that i would get a job in 6th sem bcoz i lost my all hopes due to my yeargap...but it was the blessings of god and of my parents....well wishes from my friends....motivation from my sasmita di...and above all inspiration from my love due to which i was able to do it....
so friends...believe in yourself...don't loose your hopes...just do your job with honesty...definately u can do it...

This was a tough section Tough all the Question were not difficult bt lot of them were Time taking. Any waz the ques were from

There were irritating ques as Count the no of Straight line in the figure and triangle also(might not b irritatin 4 u)

Synonyms(4 ques ,Tough)
Error finding in given parts of sentences(2 ques)

Finding best way to represent d meaning of the d given statement.(2-3 ques)
One passage(very easy plz do it if u hav time,4-5 ques )
Rest I m not remebering but I must say if u understand basic english expect for some question(around 5-6) you can easily solve this section in 15 mins bt be careful somtime options r confusing.
GROUP DICUSSION(20 MARCH 2008)
After Written they selected 47 batches of 12 student each for GD. They were annoucing result setwise tough they hav nt announced bt it was easily understood due to d way of annoncing First set C then Set B then Set A. Mine was Set A so and They announced my name in group 41 It was d test of holdin ur nerves as Theyannounced my name aroud 6pm as they were taking breaks in announcing results. I was waitin 4 my turn of GD bt Around 8pm they said it will be conducted tommorow. At 19th We had 4th grp.
My Topic was The new budget had some relaxation in terms of loans to farmers, is it a politically motivated step 4 vote bank or its benefit will reach to the public.
(Confusing as how to relate farmers n general public)
GD IS ACTUALLY D ELIMINATION ROUND B VERY VERY VERY CAUTIOUS AS FROM THE GROUP OF 12 THEY WERE SELECTING 1-2 ONLY ONE GRP WAS WITH 5 SELECTION. I WAS THE ONLY ONE TO B SELECTED FROM 12. THEN THEY SAID IT WILL B UR INTERVIEW BT WHOLE IN VEIN I WAS EAGERLY WAITING 4 INTERVIEW BT THEY SAID IT WILL B 2MORROW ND I WAS D LAST BATCH 2 B INTERVIEWED IT WAS VERY ANNOYING AS IN AN OFCAMPUS UR DRESS EVEN GET WORSEN WAITING 4 SO LONG N HUNGRY.. U KNOW IN D WHOLE CAMPUS I HAD 3 DRESS N 2 BORROWED FRM MY FRNDS..INTRESTING NA
PERSONAL INTERVIEW(21 MARCH 2008)
This was not personal interview rather a group inteview . In my gpr there were 15 students. It is very time taking it tuk around three n half hrs. The HR was a aged person asking only HR question bt actually he was only checking ur resume n asking ques frm it n checking its authenticity and any data if u missed to give.
He asked me: Pallav Kumar From where do u belong
I said n also dat my name is Kumar Pallav nt Pallav Kumar its surname 1st.

I even said I hav my blogspot as where I post any problems of my frnds as infected by virus, nd also some amazing tricks
He also argued to much over my Tabla degree.Askin hav u performed anywhere nd other intiment with which r related to Tabla So b very careful wat u write in ur CV
At Last they annonced the results I was One of them nd U cant even imagine wat io felt iwas cryin out of joys. It was my 5th company whre 4 big companies where there As INFY(NOT CLEARED WRITTEN), SATYAM(NOT SELECTED IN INTERVIEW),SUBEX,S7solution(NOT SELECTED IN INTERVIEW) Finally It was LnT infotech…..which clicked 4 me n My three days of anxiety was over.. Don’t b frustrated by failures tough it is tough 2 be calm n composed Hav faith in God n keep the ur lucky things with u..At least they give confidance I was ony in 2 out of 150 who were for campus frm my college(GOD BLESS U) At last I wud b telling its ur frnds who even keep pushing u n spclly I wud Like 2 thnx Rajiv Ranjan Who was whole d time after GD n my T&P department 2….

Hi!This is my experience at the l&t infotech placement drive at LT college, navi Mumbai on MARCH 11,2008
APTITUDE TEST
The day started off with the aptitude test. Aptitude test was very very easy.... maths was probably the easiest section.
There are 3 sections- math, logical reasoning, English
English was a little tough. Maths & logic were too easy. Just study the following 2 books by R.S. Agarwal- quantitative aptitude, verbal&non-verbal reasoning.
Don’t study all the topics. For topics refer to the post by Abdullah khan on freshersworld. I don’t remember them.
I do remember some topics though- permutation&combination,probability,series(maths, verbal,non verbal), time &distance, time & work, venn diagrams..... very easy.
PPT
After the apti was the seminar(ppt). Very well conducted seminar i must say. Very interactive session. The lady expected eveyr1 to talk & interact. She even gave out pens as prizes to those who answered questions asked during the seminar. I won TWO pens! Trust me if u can win a pen, it might just give u some brownie points for the interview(if u go that far). I used the pen during my interview n the interviewer was quite impressed.
After the ppt, they declared the results of the apti within 30 mins & told us to for the GD immediately.
GROUP DISCUSSION
I was in batch 4. There were 15 students-all boys.
The man conducting our GD 1st asked if any1 was nervous & why? Then he asked us if we wanted an extempore or a GD. We decided 2 have a GD. He asked to suggest some topics. We did that. Then he told us his own topic- "advertisement is a wasteful expenditure". And he told us to start a DEBATE!!!! He formed the groups himself. I had to speak FOR the statement. That means i had to somehow prove that advertisement is a waste of money even though i believed otherwise.
The debate went on for god knows how long( who keeps track of time). He then stopped us & asked to talk individually on the topic for about a min. This time we could talk FOR or AGAINST.
Then he called out 2 names randomly( 1 from FOR & 1 from AGAINST ) and asked them to debate for about 2-3 mins.
After all this it finally got over. He told us that he wasn’t very happy with the debate. But he still shortlisted 7 people for the interview( 2 from FOR and 5 from AGAINST).
We were then asked to fill up forms. Now this is the most important part. Whatever u write in ur form, all questions will be asked from that. So fill it up very very carefully. Try and fill up all columns if possible. Of course, don’t lie about projects. Other than that, try not to leave anything empty.
INTERVIEW (only HR)
At around 4 pm i was called in. I was 1 of the 1st ones to be called in. The interviewer was a lady. She asked me to sit down.
This was a mistake i made. I had not filled up many columns in my form like achievements to date. My extra curricular activities was almost empty as well. She asked me why it was so empty. I told her that there was nothing else to fill up. She asked how come i don’t have any achievement to date. I made up 1 at that time and told her. She asked me write it. I wrote it with the pen i had won in the morning. She asked me how i won it and i told her. She was very impressed especially when i told her that i had won not 1 but 2 pens.
She then asked me questions on my academic qualifications, my career goals, why l&t should employ me to which i replied that i will work my socks off for l&t and that they will always get a 100% from me and also that i’m ready to learn.
She asked me if had ever been any sort of a leader at school level to which i replied no. Then she asked if i had led at coll level to which i said yes(pct sem5- i was the leader). Then asked me how come i never led a team at school level but i led one in college? To this i said that because i live in a hostel these days, i’ve become more of an extrovert and my confidence to speak to people has increased. She was quite impressed.
In the form i had mentioned that l&t has a perfect mixture of professionalism & fun at work. She asked why fun at work is important? I told her that it is important to relax ur mind & not just work 24/7. Then she gave me scenario where i’m a project manager & i have to work continuosly for several weeks without a break. How would i cope with it? I told her that i can cope with it if its important work but only to a certan extent. Then she asked me to what extent will i be able 2 cope with it? I told her that till i have a mental breakdown i will cope with it. I wont let my professional life affect my personal life in any way.
I don’t remember any more questions. But she was very cool n calm. So i wasn’t nervous at all. Just talk confidently n u’ll get the job for sure.
In the end she asked me if i had any question for her. I asked if they had a separate batch for non IT/COMPS students during training to which she replied no. Then she asked me for my marksheet copies and asked me to go and wait outside.
I came out around 4.30 pm. The result was declared at 9 pm!!!!! But it was worth the wait in the end.

Hi! Guys I am Abdullah Khan, currently in third year IT from Pillais Institute of Information Tech (PIIT - New panvel). I was placed at L&T infotech on 3rd March 2008. The placement took place @ Terna College Of Eng. - Nerul. Only two colleges were Invited Pillais and Terna. I will attempt the best possible way to provide you with all the information regarding the placement that took place few days back..
Some very Quick Stats:

(Fret not on seeing the success ratio. Probability of you being selected will seem low.. but its just a fact.. calm down and read on)
When ?
We were informed about the placement only on march 1 that it would happen at Terna on 3rd(and on the very next day i.e 4th Mastek would come specially for us at our college) So PIIT students were in Dilemma whether to appear for Mastek or L&T. According to me the correct decision would have been to go for both... since students were not sure if L&t would be a single day event, many of them didnt attend L&T drive.
How ?
We reached there @ 8.00 in the morning.. although we were told to come till 9.30 I suggest going a little bit early would only help u calming down some nerves. Try to have a look at the college and get acquainted to it.. so that you don't feel a loner there.. Trust me this helps....I did the same.
Description ?
It was believed that at present there would be a ppt presentation and then after the 1/2 hour routine there would be an apti test but that wasnt the case.. due to some reason the l&T people were a bit late (thats ok) so they decided to take the aptitude test first. After giving the test they told us to move to the seminar hall where in they would give presentation about the company and by the time the presentation would be over they would tell us our results. Sounds Interesting ?
