Dear < ,

I would like to attend the Preconference Workshops that occur the day before the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Annual Conference this April. The Workshops bring together industry leaders and experts to help I/O professionals apply research-based best practices in a real world setting. Specifically, I could improve my day-to-day work by attending these sessions: <Insert short workshop titles from the table below>. Through the workshops, I would learn how to:

-<Learning area 1 from table below >

-<Learning area 2from table below >

Not only will I gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities imparted in these sessions, but I will have access to the presentation decks from all of the sessions, providing information about many other important topics in our field. Additionally, the limitednumber of attendees will allow me to network with peers and the thought leaders who are presenting information, both during the workshops and at the included coffee breaks, meals, and reception.

The SIOP Preconference Workshops provide great professional development value. SIOP member registration cost for the full day (2 different, in-depth workshops) is only $475; non-member registration is $725. SIOP also offers a half-day workshop option that costs $395 for members and $575 for non-members. Similar professional development offerings from other respected organizations, including SHRM, the Conference Board, and HCI Summit, can cost as much as $2000. That’s four times the price of the SIOP Preconference Workshops.

This SIOP workshop opportunity is offered only once a year, and attending would provide me with knowledge and tools that I can immediately apply to improve the effectiveness of our team. After the conference I can also share the presentation decks with my coworkers or even do a short presentation outlining what I have learned and brainstorming how we can immediately apply it to our current work.

The knowledge, skills and abilities I will bring back to our team are clearly worth the additional cost to attend the workshops, and I would greatly appreciate your consideration of this request. I’ll be glad to provide any additional information you need in order to make your decision.

Thank you,

<. .>
