But according to his promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

With the Holy Spirit’s favor, Rest upon us from above. Amen.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR WORSHIP TODAY
Welcome to this service of worship. The pastor and other worship leaders have put a great deal of time, thought and effort into the planning and implementation of the service. It is their hope and prayer that the service will constitute a fit offering of praise unto Almighty God, and that it will serve God’s purposes as he continues to work in the lives of his children.
Ushers are available to assist you in any way during the service. They are wearing gold identification badges and are stationed near the exits during the service.
For those with children, please note the following provisions for childcare during the service: care for infants to one year olds in the nursery; care for two and three year olds in room 21 (down the preschool hallway); children’s church for children age four through second grade in room 26 (also located down the preschool hallway – the children leave for this class with its leaders following the Children’s Sermon in the worship service). An usher will be glad to help you locate these rooms either before or after the service.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Christian Sympathy As a church family, we extend Christian sympathy to the family of Ruby Bowen, who died this past Monday, December 1. Remember all the family members in your prayers, and especially our fellow church members, Carol and Steve Thacker, and their daughters, Christine and Stephanie.
Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Remember to be in prayer for our missionaries this month, and to give a generous gift to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. We are receiving gifts for this special offering throughout the month.
White Christmas Offering Today We are receiving our White Christmas canned and boxed food gifts during the worship service this morning. You may bring your gifts to the front of the sanctuary during the singing of the second hymn. Thank you for supporting this effort to feed the hungry in our community.
December Schedule in Newsletter We have a very busy schedule of activities in December. The newsletter contains all the particulars of these events. Check them out for your own sake and for the sake of others you might invite to join us in worship and fellowship this month. Feel free to take a copy of the newsletter and give it to someone who is not active in the life of our church. Copies are available at the glass door foyer of the church.
Untrim-a-Tree Ministry EffortWe are in the midst of our Untrim-a-Tree Ministry Effort. If you would like to “play Santa” for a needy family this Christmas, you may do so by taking a tag from the tree and purchasing presents as directed. The tree is located in the entrance area of the church. There are still tags for the taking! Help us carry out this worthwhile ministry. Presents are due back by December 14.
Children’s Choir It’s time for the children to start warming up their voices again. They will sing Christmas carols in the worship service on December 21. Practices are being held after church in the great hall on December 7 and 14. Contact Brenda Knighton or Vickie Tackett with your questions.
Living Nativity Help Needed The Living Nativity will be held on Wednesday, December 17. The performance of the play will take place at 6:30 p.m. There will be a petting zoo at the back of the church beginning at 5:30 p.m. We need people to play the parts, sing in the choir, and provide goodies for pre-performance snacks. See the sign-up sheet in the great hall. Find your place in helping us share the good news of Jesus Christ with the community.
2015 Youth Passport Plans for the Youth Passport Camp this coming summer have been made. The youth will go to Atlanta, Georgia, for this year’s camp, and will be gone July 11-18. Payment of the $75 deposit is due by Sunday, January 4. Contact Lisa Morgan, Brad Young or Karen Frazier with your questions.
Newsletter Deadline All dates and article for the January newsletter are due to the church office no later than Monday, December 15.
Youth Christmas Card Post Office Service We invite church members and friends to send their cards to each other through the youth post office service rather than the U.S. post office. The youth will gather the cards each week and distribute them to the appropriate parties. All that is asked in return is a donation for their efforts. The last day to contribute is Sunday, December 21. All proceeds will help defray the costs of the youth mission trip next summer.
