Post: Retail and Admissions Assistant Grade: 2

Centre: Castle Espie Directorate: Centre Operations

Reporting to: Retail and Admissions Manager

Main function of the post: To provide excellent customer care to all visitors and support delivery of WWT Castle Espie objectives and targets for income/membership/gift aid.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Hours worked: 10 hours per week including weekends and bank holidays

Main duties of the post:

·  To serve visitors to the centre at reception as part of the retail and admissions team using electronic cash registers and credit/debit card machines effectively.

·  To follow cash handling procedures and cashing up the tills.

·  To deal with all customer queries in a professional and effective manner and take part in training to ensure WWT standards are achieved.

·  To provide a high level of service providing information about Castle Espie and events at the reception area personally with customers, by email and telephone enquiries.

·  To promote the Gift Aid Scheme to support achievement of Gift Aid targets and ensure appropriate records completed.

·  To proactively sell WWT membership, to achieve membership targets set and complete the application process efficiently for membership.

·  To work effectively as a team member in conjunction with other staff, volunteers and other departments. To attend staff meetings and training.

·  To ensure the shop stock is presented effectively and well stocked at all times. To use a computerized system to records deliveries, stock checks and pricing goods. To take part in stock taking when required.

·  To adhere to Health and Safety regulations ensuring all staff and visitors are in a safe environment.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the post holder is required to perform any other reasonable duties that may be assigned by the supervisor shown above, from time to time.

Person Specification

1.  Qualifications

Essential:

·  Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

Desirable:

·  Basic computer skills

2.  Experience

·  Previous experience of customer service in a retail environment, including cash handling and till operation

·  Use of electronic till and Microsoft Outlook

·  Ability to use own initiative

·  Sales experience preferably including membership
