Rationale

TheWhyalla Hockey Association recognisesthe difficulty clubs/ junior committee have in arranging and nominating teams at the start of the season. (This also affects umpire and volunteering duties etc.)

TheWhyalla Hockey Associationis looking at ways to promote the sport to possible sponsors of the association.

TheWhyalla Hockey Association alsolooking at promoting its veterans competition where possible.

TheWhyalla Hockey Association alsolooking at ways to have the program year book out for round 1 of each winter season.

The Whyalla Hockey Association is looking to utilize both the grass and turf fields. To reduce the operation time of the canteen, to save money from a reduction in operation time of the lights & to increase the amount of players at the complex at one time.

TheWhyalla Hockey Association recognisesthe difficulty clubs / junior committee have in arranging teams and volunteers during school breaks and the Whyalla Show weekend. Also during the SAPSASA Week in Adelaide.

TheWhyalla Hockey Association recognisesthe difficulty clubs / junior committee have in arranging good quality umpires for every game, so it will be up to each club to supply mentors for umpires needing help for the level of game they are allocated to.

Program Guidelines

TheWhyalla Match committeewill not program any winter season games during school holidays, public holiday weekends and the whyalla show weekend. Juniors will start from the first weekend of senior hockey, and will also not play during school holidays or public holiday weekends. The winter season Major Rounds will be played over 2 weekends. No games for any junior school based teams / grade during the SAPSASA week of competition in Adelaide. All competitions will follow the rules and polices of WHA.

Note: In all junior grades, the age of a participating player is at January 1st, 2015.

Competitions:

Pre Season Cup

played over 3 weekends (No finals)

  • Two 20 minute halves, 5 minute half time break. No injury time.

Clubs will nominate in grades below

-A grade men’s and women’s

-B grade men’s and women’s

-C grademen’s women’s or mixed

-U15’s men’s women’s or mixed

Closing of nominations will be 2 weeks prior to first scheduled games

Winter Season - Seniors

played over 17 weekends (15 minor rounds & 2 major rounds)

Clubs will nominate in grades below

-A grade men’s and women’s

-B grade men’s and women’s

-C grade men’s and women’s

-U18’s men’s and women’s

-U15’s men’s and women’s

Finals – Even years the A grade Men will play the last game

Odd years the A grade Women will play the last game.

Last minor round weekend,- where possible, each team will play in the last minor round.

Closing of nominations will be 4 weeks prior to first scheduled games

Summer Season

played over 12 weeknights (10 minor rounds & 2 major rounds)

teams will nominate in grades below

-A grade mixed

-B grade mixed

Closing of nominations will be 2 weeks prior to first scheduled games

Umpiring Guidelines

Clubs will allocate umpires to the winter Senior & Junior season games that have been allocated to them within a week of the request. Clubs will not allocate a junior club person to officiate in a grade that they also compete in without the use of a mentor.

Clubs will provide a mentor when needed for all other games.
