What you need to purchase for my class:

Pencils (old fashioned or mechanical)and sharpener

Lots of paper (three hole punched)

One 3-ring binder

Graphing calculator (Buy/Rent) TI 83/84

Scientific Calculator:TI 30SXII MultiView or TI36X Pro

Class Rules:

  1. Believe in yourself and do your best.
  2. When it is time to talk, talk. When it is time to listen, listen. It is never time to chat if I am speaking.
  3. When I write, youshould write. A successful grade in my class dramatically increases if you consistently take notes.
  4. Bring your materials to class everyday. Be on time, prepared, and in class every day.

Homework:

Assigned every night.

Typically from the textbook and tasks. Occasionally worksheets may be given for homework.

You will be asked to show your work at all times.

Graded on effort or accuracy at my discretion.

Solutions will be available.

Math Success Philosophy:

The best way to study for math tests is to work the problems on the review packet and in the textbook. There will also be an in- class review session the day before each scheduled assessment. Solutions for the review will be posted on the blog.

Testing Procedure:

I REQUIRE you to use pencil on tests/quizzes. ANY talking while ANY test paper is still out will result in disciplinary action and a grade of zero.

You must show all your work. No credit will be given to just an answer.

Keep in mind if I can not read your answer I can not grade your answer so please write legibly.

Test Retest Policy:

1)Student may retest on a test grade below a 70. Students may only retest on the following tests:

  • Extending the Number System
  • Quadratic Functions
  • Applications of Probability

2)The maximum grade that can be earned on a retest is a 70.

3)Retest grades cannot apply to zero-grade exams.

4)Student must complete an assignment, make test corrections and retest within one week of receiving failing grade.

5)A student who did not take notes, slept in class, did not come for extra help, or has received a zero for a homework grade during the unit may not retest.

6)All retesting will be done in Room 509 on Thursday afternoons.

Absences:
