Board Rule
1990. ASSIGNMENT BASES.
The various bases of assignment for employees shall be as follows:
Basis Definition of Assignment Period
A From July 1 to June 30, inclusive.
B221 days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays but including legal holidays,
and including school holidays except as provided below, occurring during the period of assigned time as designated by the Superintendent or his authorized representative. Such assignment shall include the period from the first day of the fall semester to the last day of the spring semester, inclusive. As an exception, and to be known as "Flexible B Basis," the 221 days of assignment for employees in year-round schools may occur at any time from July 1 to June 30, inclusive, provided that, notwith-standing any other provision to the contrary, the annual hours of paid holidays and related benefits are commensurate with those for the regular B Basis.
C204 days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays but including legal holidays, and including school holidays except as provided below from the first day of the fall semester to the last day of the spring semester, inclusive. As an exception, and to be known as "Flexible C Basis," the 204 days of assignment for employees in year-round schools may occur at any time from July 1 to June 30, inclusive, provided that, notwithstanding any other provision to the contrary, the annual hours of paid holidays and related benefits are commensurate with those for the regular C Basis.
E234 days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays but including legal holidays, and including school holidays except as provided below, occurring during the period of assigned time as designated by the Superintendent or his authorized representative. Such assignment shall include the period from the first day of the fall semester to the last day of the spring semester, inclusive.
K214 days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays but including legal holidays,
and including school holidays except as provided below, occurring during the period of assigned time as designated by the Superintendent or his
authorized representative. Such assignment shall include the period from the first day of the fall semester to the last day of the spring semester, inclusive.
MFrom July 1 to June 30, inclusive, or portions thereof. (a) For certificated employees: The annual period(s) of assignment shall be in accordance with the employee's contract of employment. Applicable to employment under Section 44909 or 44910 of the Education Code. (b) For cafeteria employees at year-round schools: Each day that school is in session, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, but including legal holidays for regular employees.
S204 days from July 1 through June 30 commensurate with C basis, but flexible as to the days assigned, such assigned time to include the equivalent of winter and spring recess and other legal and school holidays so that, notwithstanding any other provisions to the contrary, the annual hours of paid holidays and related benefits are commensurate with those for the regular C basis. Equivalent salary will be paid on an annualized basis on each school month payday. Restricted to certificated employees serving in year-round schools.
TFrom July 1 through June 30, with annual hours commensurate to
C assignment basis for six-hour certificated personnel serving in certain year-round schools as designated by the District. The normal full-time assignment for compensation purposes pursuant to Article XIV, Section 1.1 of the District/UTLA Agreement shall be 6.6 hours per working day for positions which are assigned to the T basis as determined by the District and are in classifications which are indicated in Section 1.1 as 6 hours. Adjustment factors shall be applied as necessary so that the annual assignment includes net working hours (including pupil-free hours) and paid non-working hours commensurate with the C assignment basis for six-hour positions. Equivalent salary and benefits will be paid on an annualized basis.
UFrom July 1 through June 30, with annual hours commensurate to C assignment basis for eight-hour certificated personnel serving in certain year-round schools as designated by the District. The normal full-time assignment for compensation purposes pursuant to Article XIV, Section 1.1 of the District/UTLA Agreement shall be 8.8 hours per working day for positions that are assigned to the U Basis as determined by the District and are in classifications which are indicated in Section 1.1 as 8 hours. Adjustment factors shall be applied as necessary so that the annual
assignment includes net working hours and paid non-working hours commensurate with the C assignment basis for eight-hour positions. Equivalent salary and benefits will be paid on an annualized basis.
W234 days from July 1 to June 30 commensurate with E Basis but
flexible as to the days assigned. Such assigned time to include the equivalent of winter and spring recess and other legal and school holidays
applicable to E Basis employees. Equivalent salary will be paid on an annualized basis on each school month payday. Restricted to certificated management employees serving in Children's Centers.
XPeriods of assignment as needed, not otherwise defined in this Rule (including assignments in substitute, temporary, and relief status and the unclassified service).
Z(1) The period between the ending date of an employee's assignment basis in one school year and the beginning date of the regular basis for the following school year, or (2) the periods of unassigned time for E basis
employees, or (3) the intersession periods for year-round school
employees. Restricted to certificated and classified employees having
regular status in other than A Basis positions.
School holidays may be declared unassigned days for classified employees by appropriate administrators. School holidays not assigned as working days for classified employees shall be unpaid days except that earned vacations shall be taken during school holiday periods.
Employees assigned on any of the above bases may be placed by the Board of Education on unpaid leaves of absence from service not to exceed five days during a school year.
