Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I access my account?

You need three things when you visit a Shared Branch location:

·  The name of your credit union (Mercy Health Partners Federal Credit Union)

·  Your MHPFCU account number

·  A current, unexpired, VALID government-issued picture identification with signature (such as driver’s license, passport, or military ID)

The Shared Branch network cares about protecting your identity and account information so all transactions require identification.

What types of transactions can I do?

·  Account balance inquiries

·  Deposits

·  Withdrawals

·  Non-mortgage loan payments

Additional services available at most locations

·  Check cashing*

·  Transfers between sub-accounts

·  Transfers between accounts (providing you are an owner on both accounts)

·  Check Withdrawals**

·  Money Orders or Traveler Checks**

·  Notary Service**

* Check cashing

Checks will be deposited into your account and then withdrawn. The amount withdrawn is limited to the balance in your account before the deposit (unless the check is an item that is coded for Immediate Availability).

** There may be a fee for this service

How are check holds and deposited funds handled?

The funds you deposit at a Shared Branch location may not be immediately available for withdrawal as they are subject to the Funds Availability Policy of MHPFCU. All personal checks, business checks and money orders are subject to holds, and these holds may be more restrictive than deposits made at MHPFCU branches. Checks deposited at a Shared Branch location will be assigned an availability code based on the type of check and information on the check. These codes are:

·  L – Local Check

·  NL – Non-Local Check

·  I – Immediate Availability

MHPFCU’s data processor translates these codes and places holds based on MHPFCU policies. Since the Shared Branch location does not place the hold on your account, no one at the Shared Branch location can remove the hold.

Checks that are coded for Immediate Availability include government checks, US Postal Money Orders, and Federal Reserve or Federal Home Loan Bank Checks.

Some payroll checks may also be coded for Immediate Availability providing they meet the following criteria:

·  The check must be computer-generated.

·  It must be from a recognizable major company.

·  The word “payroll” must be commercially imprinted on the item (or you must provide a paycheck stub).

·  Payroll checks in excess of $2500 will not be coded for Immediate Availability.

Special rules apply to tax refund checks that are payable to more than one party. If the account is owned by only one party, all parties must be present, all must endorse the check, and all must provide proper, valid identification.

Are there limits on cash withdrawals?

Shared Branch locations may limit cash withdrawals to $500 per day. This is based on the separate policy of each Shared Branch location.

Are there fees?

No, you are not charged any fees related to transactions on your account. This is a member-only benefit, and it is just another example of the credit union difference.

However, even though there is no direct cost to you, MHPFCU is charged for each transaction that you perform at a Shared Branch location. We are proud to be able to provide this type of service to you, but as a member, you are also an owner of MHPFCU, and as such, you have a responsibility to use the service wisely.

Please do your part to minimize the cost of this program by using other methods to transfer funds between accounts and sub-accounts. We suggest Internet Teller, our user-friendly home banking product (www.mhpfcu.org) or Call 24, our interactive audio response system. Please call us if you need more information about either of these services.

When do transactions post to my account?

Since transactions that you perform at a Shared Branch location are done in “real time,” they will instantly post to your account.

Whether at work, home, or your favorite travel destination, your credit union is always nearby.

Convenience for your Family
