THE SICK KIDS FRIENDS FOUNDATION
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Sick Kids Friends Foundation believe that nothing should get in the way of being a child. As a grant giving organisation, we exist to transform the experiences of children and young people in hospital, and the many more being supported in local communities, so they can be a child first and a patient second. Since the charity was established in 1992, we have contributed over £10 million to help children and young people.
As you will see from our Strategy 2016 – 2018 (please refer to Strategy document) we plan to increase the annual contribution we make to children’s healthcare in hospital and in the community. Edinburgh’s RoyalHospital for Sick Children is moving and a brand new purpose built children’s hospital is due to open in 2018. As one of the main charities involved in this venture, we are contributing an initial £2.9 million to fund the very latest in enhancements, distractions and equipment, which will help to transform the hospital experience for generations of children and young people. Work on the new hospital began in March 2015 and we are now in the public phase of our appeal.
All members of The Sick Kids Friends Foundation team adhere to our valuesof being supportive, dedicated, encouraging, friendly, imaginative and fun. There are currently ten staff within the fundraising and marketing team and there is one position available as the EventsFundraiser.
This is an extremely exciting time to be joining our Fundraising and Marketing team and you will report to the Partnerships Manager and play a key role in supporting her to develop and deliver agreed targets in line with the new strategy. As Events Fundraiser you will be involved in influencing the direction of events fundraising. As part of the Partnerships team you will help to generate over £1.2 million in 2017.
Currently, The Sick Kids Friends Foundation is based in an NHS building adjoined to Edinburgh’s RoyalHospital for Sick Children. Prior to the opening of the new children’s hospital in 2017, the charity will relocate and operate from new premises on two sites - an office in the new children’s hospital provided by the NHS and from another property in the Edinburgh area to be confirmed in due course.
All staff have access to an employer pension scheme and are entitled to 30 days holiday pro rata including public holidays, the option of flexible working hours, a system of TOIL, mileage allowance and childcare vouchers. It is our policy to employ all staff on the first point of the salary scale.
