THE SERVICES WE OFFER

Staffordshire Women’s Aid exists to support victims of domestic and sexual violence/abuse. We offer a needs led, holistic package of support and our approach is underlined by choice, partnership and empowerment.

All referrals will be risk and needs assessed. We strive to meet the diverse needs of all referrals. Where we are unable to, we will work in partnership to access appropriate support elsewhere.

RefugeAccommodationfor women and children fleeing domestic/sexual violence and seeking safe,emergency accommodation with practical and emotional support.

Referrals to otherrefuges in the country where needed.

Outreach support offering one to one advice, with practical and emotional support in the community, provided within our Resource/Recovery Centres in Cannock or Stafford, or nearer to you if access and transport are a problem.

Children and Young People’s Services for those suffering from the effects of witnessing domestic abuse/violence, or living with abuse in their own relationships. Specialist One to One support and group activities.

♦ You and Me Mum – Helps parents make sense of the impact of domestic abuse on their children, and how to work towards increasing their safety and self-confidence – One to one and group settings.

♦ ACTION – Educational programme to encourage healthy, non-abusive relationships, delivered in schools and youth group settings.

♦ Group Work – Designed to help work through the traumas of abuse, increase safety and build self-esteem (based on the practice guidelines of the Power to Change model developed by Women’s Aid Federation of England).

IDVA – (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor) - Independent support through court and criminal justice procedures. Advocating for victims at high risk through the MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference).

ISVA – (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) - Independent support for those suffering the effects of sexual violence/abuse and rape. Countywide service linked to Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent SARC (Sexual Abuse Referral Centre).

SURVIVE SEXUAL VIOLENCE SUPPORT Specialist support for survivors of: Rape, Attempted Rape, Sexual Exploitation, Childhood Sexual Abuse, Sexual Violence/Assault, female genital mutilation (FGM), including support for young people.

VOLUNTEER PROJECT– Training and support for volunteers, tailored to their skills and abilities.

♦TRAINING AND AWARENESS RAISING– A range of training and awareness-raising sessions available on domestic and sexual violence and related issues.
