The SAXON Bayeux Tapestry

Many years it has lain forgotten in an old convent in Southern England. But a few months ago, English historians from Sussex uncovered an amazing treasure; A Saxon tapestry outlining the notorious events of 1066, one of the most important years in English history.

This tapestry casts the Norman Conquest in a whole new light;

we are now able to discover the story from the Saxons’ point of view.

Below are some scenes from this exciting new find.

Each scene contains a brief explanation of what is depicted.

Note to students: (Delete this later)

·  Leave the text above the way it is; but replace the sample scene below with your own.

·  You will have to take screenshots of the panel you created (See next page)

·  Make sure the image is cropped correctly (See next page)

·  If you use the online Latin translators, (see wiki) provide extra explanation / translation.

·  You can make several panels

Taking a screen shot:

Create your tapestry scene in the game.

When you are finished, press the following two keys:

"fn" (Next to the CTRL key)

"prt sc" / Insert (Above the backspace key)

Now go into Word

Go to FILE > PASTE and paste the screen shot

You will have to CROP the image so that you only see the panel you've created.

How to crop an image:

1.  Select the picture you want to crop.

2.  Right click on the image and select “View Picture Toolbar”

3.  On thePicturetoolbar, clickCrop.

4.  Position the cropping tool over a cropping handle and then do one of the following:

·  To crop one side, drag the centre handle on that side inward.

·  To crop equally on two sides at once, hold down CTRL as you drag the centre handle on either side inward.

·  To crop equally on all four sides at once, hold down CTRL as you drag a corner handle inward.

5.  On thePicturetoolbar, clickCropto turn off theCropcommand.

6.  NOTEYou can undo a crop at anytime before saving the picture.
