The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Continues Record Setting Pace

April 6, 2015 –The 2015 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo was an electrifying year that broke many records. From aremarkable year in cumulative ticket sales, to increased entries in the largest ever Jr. Livestock Show, and a record setting Jr. Livestock Auction with sales totaling over $6.1 million, there was something for everyone. The family-friendly atmosphere drew over 1.6 million patrons during the 18-days.

Now that the event has come to an end, we would like to extend a thank you to over 6,000 volunteers, fans, corporate partners and sponsors for making this year possible. We appreciate their generous support of our mission and look forward to continuing the tradition in 2016.

Facts and Figures from the 2015 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo

Rodeo and Performances:

  • For the 10th consecutive year, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo was voted the PRCA Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year.
  • Overall attendance on the grounds was 1,647,968. With eight record breaking days.
  • 17 out of the 21 Rodeo/Concert performances were sold out, setting a new record in cumulative ticket sales.
  • The total purse for the PRCA Rodeo was $1,675,000, making the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo the largest & highest paying regular season PRCA rodeo.
  • The show continues to bring the best animal athletes from North America’s top stock contractors and the top professional rodeo contestants to create an experience rivaled only by the National Finals Rodeo held in Las Vegas.

Livestock:

  • The San Antonio Junior Livestock Show, the largest junior livestock show in the world, had an increase of over 1,000 entries in 2015.
  • $1,704,000 in scholarships was awarded to Livestock Show winners.
  • The Junior Livestock Auction set a new record, with final bids totaling over $6.1 million.

Grand Champion Barrow = $92,000 – Record Sale

  • Reserve Champion Barrow =$66,000 – Record Sale

Grand Champion Lamb = $85,000 – Record Sale

Grand Champion Goats = $75,000 – Record Sale

  • Reserve Champion Goats = $48,000 – Record Sale

Grand Champion Broiler = $28,000

Horse Show:

  • Horse Show events featured over 2,000 horses competing; $270,000 in scholarships was awarded to Horse Show participants.
  • The second annual Youth Rodeo featured select Rodeo style events for 365 Texas 4-H and FFA members and awarded $70,000 in scholarships to the winners.
  • Seventeen U.S. states and 5 countries were represented by Horse Show participants.

Fun Facts:

  • The International Committee hosted guests from 99 different countries
  • Outside the AT&T Center, there were 85 performances on four different stages.
  • Our School Tours Program welcomed 11,237 students educating them about the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. This program allowed them to learn hands on about agriculture and livestock, and the history of our show.

Coming Soon! The San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. (dba the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo) will announce our commitment to education in May. This figure will represent scholarships, grants, endowments, junior livestock auctions, a youth western art auction, calf scramble, and show premiums paid to the youth of Texas.
