2. The answer: You guess what he will do in the future according to what he has done in the past.

In the poem, the speaker always shows signs of having a lot of problems choosing only one path. He says he 'wishes he could travel both'. He even played with the idea of coming back and choosing the other ("I kept the first…."). Because of this past behavior, we can assume that in the future, he will also think about 'the road not taken': he will think about the road he did not take, and so he will 'sigh in regret' about the road he did not take:

Which road did the speaker choose?

The student should describe the problem solving process; to describe the consideration that were being taken while trying to solve the problem.

Sample answer:

The speaker had a problem: he reached a fork in the road and he had to choose only one path to take. This means that he had to make a decision where his life was going to go- how to make an important decision in his life.

First of all, the speaker spent a long time looking down one of the paths' trying to predict the future, where this path will take him. He could not see very far, so he chose the path that was grassy, meaning that fewer people have taken. He chose to be different / non conformist. He felt that that this road "wanted wear": meaning he felt that this was calling out to him – that this was his destiny. He chose to be different, and go on the path that he felt was calling him (to be an artist).

Why did you choose Problem Solving ?

In order to understand the choice that the speaker made, we must look at the problem that he was facing, and what he took into consideration (cons / advantages)

when he attempted to solve his problem. The poet had to make an important decision concerning his life. He needs to try to think about where each path will take him in life, by examining all the information he has available to him.
