Last year’s survey driving change at Hartley, Ms. Joy Taylor
Parents asked for more afterschool activities. We have scouting, Girls on the Run is available and the new coach would like to offer a fitness program for boys. A retired teacher is planning to launch an afterschool Spanish Club. Will have Minecraft Club again. Harbor Island picks up for tennis and First Tee picks up for golf.
Teachers asked for some additional materials. Did purchase some materials, Florida Ready for ELA. Purchased some materials such as Being a Reader for early grades. District is providing “Being a Writer” curriculum for 3rd - 5th grades. Hartley was offered the opportunity to pilot iReady by the district and everyone is interested. iReady is being looked at for progress monitoring to replace Discovery Education (DE) assessments. iReady also provides resources based on how some students score/level and helps to move them up from where they begin.
The district will be providing training for the teachers on the “Being a Reader” program. Six substitutes are needed for K/1/2 grade levels so teachers can attend the training sessions at $540. Would like to designate for the Oct. 13 teacher.
Motion to support the funds to be used to provide substitute teachers.
- Motion: Megan Wall
- Second: Will Russell
- Discussion: none
- Vote: Motion carried unopposed
October’s agenda will focus on the School Improvement Plan. Hartley did score an A but by one percentage point. This summer the administration and then teachers analyzed data to look at areas of focus.
Upcoming fundraiser, Ms. Joy Taylor
Boosterthon has been successful but a large percentage goes back to the company hosting the Fun Run. Hartley would like to raise funds, which stay at Hartley. Hartley will be hosting the Super Hero Fund Raiser. Ms. Taylor showed a slideshow of the different levels of donation and all the incentives. The goal is to collect $18,000. Teachers will get to keep 5% of the total funds earned by their class. Hartley is looking to buy a sound system for inside and outside events as well as some athletic equipment.
This fundraiser will launch this week and run for one week. Information will be coming about how to make donations through Pay Pal and how to designate which students (if siblings) are associated with the donation.
What information can SAC provide you?, Mrs. Kerly
Mrs. Kerly shared a note sheet to collect requests for things the members want to learn about at the SAC meetings.
Mr. Mignon, October 6 will be interviewing the last four candidates running for Superintendent. There will be an open session for the public to attend. Mrs. Kerly will send out more information when she gets it.
Next meeting October 4th.
