THE PRIMARY DUTIES OF THE RULES DIRECTOR ARE:

  1. Maintain regular communication with the Rules Coordinator and committee members regarding:
  • Tournament work assignments
  • Area Seminar/club rule workshops
  • Any changes made by the board that affect the committee.
  1. Attend the NCGA Rules Seminar early in the year.
  2. Be available to the members to refer to a WGANC Rules official any questions regarding the Rules of Golf
  3. Prepare monthly board reports.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

JANUARY

  1. ANNUAL RULES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA

The agenda for the meeting is generated in co-operation with the Rules Coordinator and shall cover the following items:

  1. Committee members will confirm which tournaments they are available to work. Their selections should be for tournaments within their area or as close as possibleto their home. During the meeting, the Director and Rules Coordinator will record the selections and create the assignment schedule for the coming year.
  2. Update rules committee roster. List all Certified Rules members. Highlight the names of new rules committee members.
  3. Reserve room for the next year’s Rules Committee Meeting
  1. AREA RULES SEMINARS

These seminars are usually offered every four years when there is a major rules change by the USGA/R&A bodies. If they are held, the Rules Director will be available to assist the Rules Coordinator with any details required. i.e Assist at the Seminars or borrow the needed equipment from the WGANC office (i.e. projector, Screen, etc.).

FEBRUARY

REGIONAL MEETINGS: The Rules Director will attend all regional meetings, if possible, and introduce the Certified Rules committee member who will be leading the Rules break-out session.

JULY.

In preparation of next year’s budget, give input to the Treasurer who will be developing the Rules budget with the Rules Coordinator. (Consider hotels, mileage, for tournaments, meetings and seminars, uniforms, Rules/Decisions Books expense, etc.))

OCTOBER

1.Attend Area Chairs’ annual meeting.

2. Rules Coordinator will provide the names of all Rules Official, Area Chairs and new applicants to Rues Director who will propose all applicants be accepted into the committee at the November Board meeting.

3. Prepare Annual report with the assistance of the Rules Coordinator which will be published in the WGANC Annual Report.

NOVEMBER-DECEMBER

  1. Confirm Rules Coordinator and rules committee members for the upcoming year at the board meeting.
  2. Make arrangements for the January Rules Committee meeting and communicate details to the Rules Coordinator. The Rules Coordinator will prepare the Agenda and send that information to the Rules Committee.
