The Pony Express s2

FROM THE EDITOR

Hi Everybody, I hope you all had a happy and safe holiday season and I hope Santa brought all the Mustang parts you need for the coming year!

We didn’t have a meeting in December, so don’t forget to come to the meeting this month on Tuesday, January 6th at Traditions Restaurant. It is planned for the new officers to take over at this meeting. Plan to attend all our meetings this year, you will enjoy getting together if you have been missing meetings in the past, and if you have a friend who is a Mustanger or a Wannabe bring them along, they are always welcome at our meetings.

If you haven’t paid your dues yet for 2004, please take a few minutes, fill out the form on the back of the newsletter and mail it in or bring it to the meeting. Last year we were still getting renewals dragging in as late as July. It doesn’t cost much, only $20 for your whole family, you can’t take your family to the movies for $20 anymore, but for only $20 you are a member of the best car club in East Texas!

This month we install new officers. I want to congratulate President Jim Voit for 2 years of service leading Mustangs of East Texas. Even with his hectic work schedule he has been there for us and has done a terrific job as President. Dan Hardiman will be taking the Presidential seal and putting it on his Cobra for the next year, and we look forward to his leadership as well.

ETCC AUTO & CYCLE SHOW

The East Texas Crisis Center is once again putting on the East Texas Auto & Cycle Show in the Harvey Convention Center. The show is Friday, February 20th through Sunday February 22nd. The Show is open from 6 PM – 8 PM on Friday, 10 AM – 8 PM on Saturday, and 10 AM – 5 PM on Sunday. The drawing for the Raffle Car will be around 4 PM on Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults, children under age 5 are free. Proceeds benefit the East Texas Crisis Center.

This is an annual event in East Texas, one of the best car shows around. Each year the show features some well known cars such as Big Foot, the Batmobile, K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, and the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. Last year they had the GT500E Eleanor car, like the star of Gone in Sixty Seconds.

The show is well organized and entries are limited, so if you haven’t entered your car it’s time to get entered. In years past, they have limited entries to cars that have not been in the show for 3 years, this is to keep the show fresh each year so people don’t come out to see the same cars they saw last year. This keeps attendance good. Last year was another record year, good news for the Crisis Center!

Plan to attend this year’s show, and bring your whole family. If you have time, volunteer to help out, the entire show is run by volunteers, they always need someone to sell tickets, watch the door, work the silent auction, or something like that.

For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, call the Crisis Center at 903-509-2526, check their web site www.etcc.org, or e-mail .

The East Texas Crisis Center is a non-profit organization that provides shelter and assistance to women and children in East Texas who are victims of domestic violence.

JUNE 10-13 TULSA, BE THERE!!

In looking up events for this month’s newsletter, I found out that 2 big events are taking place the same weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Mid America Ford Performance and Shelby Meet is being held on June 10-13 AND the International Tulsa Route 66 Festival is being held in Tulsa that same weekend. How cool is that?

The Ford Performance and Shelby Meet is 3 days of open track at Hallet Motor Racing Circuit, 1 day of Drag Racing at the new Tulsa International Raceway, with a gigantic All Ford Parts Swap meet and an All Ford Super Car Show at the host hotel, the Tulsa Southern Hills Marriott. Contact .

The Tulsa International Route 66 Festival hosts 4 days of classic car shows, motorcycles, Route 66 cruises, Art Deco tours, a 5K run, food booths, Route 66 Memorabilia, an Oklahoma Route 66 exhibit, and all kinds of Route 66 celebrations, bringing people from all around the world. Contact .

Tulsa Oklahoma will truly be the place to be in June, make your plans early! Motel rooms may be hard to come by. Finding something to do will certainly not be hard. Some overlapping will surely keep things interesting.

2004 DUES DUE

It’s that time of year again, time to pay your dues for 2004. The dues are due in January, the cost is $20 and it is for your whole family. What a deal! For that you get membership in Mustangs of East Texas, this great newsletter and lots of good times with others who are just as bitten by the Mustang virus as you are! Pay early so you don’t forget. There is an application on the back page of this newsletter.

WIN THIS CAR

Tyler Ford has donated a 1965 Mustang Coupe to the East Texas Crisis Center. It is a 2 owner, white on

Some lucky person will get to drive away in this beautiful Stang for the price of a $5 Raffle Ticket and the East Texas Crisis Center will raise money to help East Texans in need of their services.

MONTHLY CLUB MEETINGS

Our monthly club meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Traditions on South Broadway, Tyler, just down the street from Lowe’s and Best Buy on the other side of Broadway. This is the place to come for help with your Mustang or to suggest and help us plan club events. If the weather is good we like to cruise up Broadway and back down to the parking lot at Broadway and Rice Rd.
