The Phoebe Chapple Memorial PhD Research Scholarship

The Repat Foundation – The Road Home in collaboration with The Hospital Research Foundation invites applications from researchers to supervise and support a new and emergingPhD candidate with a research scholarship of $27,000-00 per annum for a three year period commencing in January 2017.

The Phoebe Chapple PhD Research Scholarship willsupport investigations aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of Australian female first responders and emergency service practitioners including those who have experienced post-traumatic stress.

This PhD scholarship grant is being provided through The Australian Medical Women’s Memorial Research Fund – Snowdrops Hope for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)Committee which is an affiliate of The Repat Foundation – The Road Home and The Hospital Research Foundation.

This funding will be awarded to an applicant’s institution to engage a PhD candidate on a scholarship of $27,000-00 per annum from 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2019. It is expected that the successful applicant will recruit an appropriately qualified PhD candidate who will commence their PhD research project in January 2017. It is also expected that the research topic of the PhD scholarship will fit within the overall theme of the successful applicant’s research group.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate:

  1. Experience in and the ability to supervise health research focused on first responders (i.e. defence force veterans, fire, ambulance, police and emergency services).
  2. Proven track record in the supervision of PhD candidates in the health field.
  3. The ability to successfully identify suitable candidates to undertake a doctoral program designed and equipped to meet the research aims and objectives of The Road Home and The Hospital Research Foundation.
  4. Opportunities to enhance both existing and already established research programs in the emergency services through the implementation of this PhD research.
  5. Commitment from their research institution to the administration and support of the PhD candidate.

Successful applicants will be expected to supervise and support the PhD candidature to full completion.
