ARTIST CHEN MAN TO MARK THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE

“PENINSULA IN PINK” BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN OCTOBER

The Peninsula Shanghai will be thinking pink for a purpose in October by showcasing world-class Chinese art by Chen Man to raise funds for local breast cancer charities. To mark its fifth anniversary, the annual “Peninsula in Pink” breast cancer awareness campaign is creatively restyled as “The Art of Pink”. The hotel façade will be illuminated in pink, and guests can enjoy a pink-tinted Afternoon Tea at The Lobby, a pink-inspired cocktail served in The Peninsula bars, plus rose-hued eclairs at The Peninsula Boutique.

The highlight of the 2015 The Art of Pink campaign will be a specially commissioned art installation by globally acclaimed Chinese photographer and visual artist Chen Man exhibited in The Lobby. At the end of The Art of Pink month, Chen Man will add graceful calligraphy touches to the piece and it will be auctioned at a private dinner hosted at The Rosamonde Aviation Lounge on Thursday 5 November. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to China Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Art of Pink campaign to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month builds on The Peninsula Hotels’ ongoing commitment to promote innovative public art. This October, each of the 10 Peninsula hotels worldwide is collaborating with leading art museums, galleries and private collectors to provide guests with privileged access to ground-breaking art by established masters and emerging local artists.

This year’s month-long The Art of Pink charitable initiative at The Peninsula Shanghai will commence with a a pink lighting ceremony. A selection of alluring pink-themed treats awaitings guests and visitors throughout October. The Lobby will serve a special The Art of Pink Afternoon Tea, featuring pink and rose-tinted sweet and savoury treats. Cocktail connoisseurs can sip a special Pink Cocktail mixed by the hotel’s talented bartenders while enjoying photogenic views of the Bund, Huangpu River and Pudong skyline. Guests and local shoppers seeking a delectable gift to take home can choose hand-made Pink Eclairs at The Peninsula Boutique. A percentage of all The Art of Pink food and beverage items will be donated to the China Breast Cancer Foundation. In support of “Peninsula in Pink”, a unique luxury brand, Estée Lauder, as a partner with The Peninsula Shanghai for the third year, supports this worthy cause is supporting The Peninsula Shanghai by providing the pink lipsticks worn by the for hotel’s female staff to wear throughout October. .

Guests at The Peninsula Shanghai can also help support the fundraising efforts by purchasing the specially commissioned pink ribbon pin during October, with a percentage of the proceeds donated to the hotel’s supporting charity.

About Chen Man

Born and raised in Beijing, Chen Man is a renowned visual artist and photographer whose work is influenced by Chinese traditional culture. A photography graduate of China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts, her style, beauty and fashion photography dovetails with her innate fondness for glamour.
